GET YOUR CAR WINTERIZED! OCTOBER 21 & 22 ONLY Appointment required
Windshield Wipers & Fluid. Drivers should ensure that their vehicles have a good pair of wipers installed. Worn out wipers can be a hazard. It is also important to use a windshield fluid that will not freeze over. Lights. Be sure all of the lights on your vehicle are in working order. These include the high beams, head lights, day lights, fog lights, brake lights and tail lights. Properly functioning lights are important so that your visibility is not affected. Staff can advise on how to clean your headlights if they are yellowed, for better lighting.
Tires. From October-March, when snow is expected, drivers need to make sure that their vehicles have either winter tires or all season M/S (mud and snow) tires. This is not just for safety but also a German law. Check the tread and air pressure on the tires. These two factors determine how much traction the tires will have to properly grip the road. The treads on a tire control the stopping power of the car.
Antifreeze. In Bavaria, the temperatures during the winter months frequently drop below freezing. The staff at the Automotive Skills Center can help you check the concentration of the coolant to ensure the level of antifreeze is appropriate for the cold environment.
If you are not sure how to check the antifreeze, windshield wipers and fluid, battery, lights or do not know what the appropriate tires are, visit the former Automotive Skills Center (B256) and let us assist with a winterization check of your car. We have the tools and equipment needed preparing your vehicle for winter weather conditions. SKILLED MECHANIC ONSITE TO ASSIST YOU! Registration required: Sign-up at the Mueller Fitness Center, Sheridan Kaserne, B119, DSN 440-2747 or CIV 08821-750-2747. Limited to winter services only and one hour bay sessions per vehicle.
