The Grafenwoehr Performing Arts Center (GPAC), located at Tower Barracks is presenting ... STEEL MAGNOLIAS on March 20, 21, 27 and 28. The play tells the story of a group of gossipy southern ladies in a small town beauty parlor and is alternately hilarious and touching, and in the end, deeply revealing of the strength and purposefulness which underlies the humorous banter of its characters. As a result of the 1987 movie version of the play, STEEL MAGNOLIAS has developed a strong following, with many fans able to quote dialogue directly from the script. This year is the 25th anniversary of the premiere of the play and the GPAC production will celebrate the anniversary with a dinner theater production. The Bavaria Stüb’l Restaurant is providing a buffet dinner consisting of good old Southern home cooking, featuring Fried Chicken, Shrimp and Grits, Vegetables (including collard greens) and potatoes.
