Every year, the costumes and carriages, wagons and weapons of the Thirty Years’ War are once again to be seen on the streets of Rothenburg’s old town, where the event is reenacted. ZURICH, SWITZERLAND
Switzerland’s largest city, Zurich, retains much of its 19th century charm. Located on the northern shore of Lake Zurich, in the geographical heart of the country, the city has a lot of sightseeing attractions for everyone. The majority of the more than 375,000 residents speak a form of German called “Schwyzerdütsch”. As a former seat of the Reformation, Zurich is a largely Protestant, some might say Puritan, city. Built between the wooded slopes of the Uetliberg and the Zürichberg, Zurich is divided by the Limmat River. With a vibrant scene, there’s much to explore in Zurich’s Old Town.
