Dear Customer, As the Fiscal Year (FY) comes to a close, I thought it a good time to reflect on the many positive things we were able to accomplish in this turbulent year! We kicked the FY off strong with the Hohenfels Strong Teams Expo in October, and filled the rest of the year with: Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremonies, the 2nd Annual Grafenwoehr Rugged Terrain Obstacle Run, a Boxing Invitational, the Hohenfels German American Volksfest, the US Forces Europe 10-Miler Qualification Race, Kinderfests, Independence Day Celebrations, a Fat Tire Spectacular Mountain Bike Race, Golf Tournaments, Youth Baseball Championship, European Invitational Softball Tournament, Child and Youth Summer Camps, a Road Race, a Summer Reading Program, the 56th Grafenwoehr German American Volksfest, INFO EXPOs, the BOSS 25th Anniversary Celebration, a BOSS Car & Bike Show, the first MAD (Mud and Dust) Dash and End of Summer Bash, participation in the Weiden City Fest and numerous Commemorative and Fun Runs. We supported the Chief of Staff of the Army’s Sports Program, the formation of a Spouses’ Sports League, the JROTC Summer Camp, Boy Scout Jamborees, numerous Change of Command Receptions and Special Functions, and delivered Warrior Adventure Quest (WAQ) for a couple thousand redeploying Soldiers! Family and MWR also offered our customers the opportunity to explore Germany, and travel to Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, England, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Scotland, Slovakia and Switzerland! Family and MWR continued to improve on programs and services throughout the entire FY. We cut the ribbon on Rosalia’s, the Bavaria Stüb’l and Hohenfels’ Hometown Grill; and, undertook Child, Youth & School Services facilities, Arts & Crafts, and Bowling Center upgrades. We also broke ground on a SelfStorage Facility and a Car Wash. We celebrated the Garmsich Theater Topper Awards special achievement award; Sadie Burger’s selection as the IMCOM Family and MWR Volunteer of the Year; and, the successful National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) re-accreditation of the Tower Barracks Child Development Center. Family and MWR was also honored to have the Rose Barracks Fitness Center renamed in honor of SSG Jesse L. Williams, a fallen Warrior. Whew! It has been a face-paced, fun-filled Fiscal Year, and we look forward to the next. Thank you for making USAG Bavaria Family and MWR your First Choice for recreation, entertainment and community support! Audre L. Binder, EdM Director
