LEARN TO SKI/SNOWBOARD QUICK TRIP TO GROSSER ARBER

February 4 & 26, Outdoor Recreation, H15 From never clipping into bindings to carving your edges, Outdoor Recreation is here to give you the skills needed to start skiing or snowboarding. Spend the day on the slopes of what we call the Mont Blanc of the Bavarian Forest: Grosser Arber. Lessons are provided by professionally certified PSIA and AASI instructors. Lift passes, gear and transportation included. Price: $99/person

PRAGUE CITY TOUR*

February 4, Outdoor Recreation, H15 See the Golden City of Europe! The 2-hour walking tour with a local guide takes you through the historic center, showing the Astronomical Clock, Charles Bridge and many other famed sites. In the afternoon, you will have ample time to enjoy lunch, explore on your own and shop. In addition to the city’s cultural attributes, it has a reputation for quality Czech beer! February 5, BOSS, B150 Come on out and get your game on with some fun intense team rivalries! The tailgate party starts at 9 p.m. and the game at midnight. Weather permitting, Outdoor Recreation will hike in boots or snowshoes through the night and warm the darkness with high spirits and great stories. ITALIAN SKI/SNOWBOARD WEEKEND*

February 17-20, Outdoor Recreation, H15 Enjoy some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the Italian Dolomites. All participants will receive the Brixen card, which includes free access to the indoor pool and sauna directly across the street from the hotel and a single day ride to the top of the Plosse where, in addition to the skiing, families can take part in the 7.5 km long sledding route to the valley. Ski and snowboard lessons also available. Lodging, dinner, breakfast and transportation included. Lift passes not included. Gear rentals are half price at the ODR for all trip participants. CYS “ALL STAR” PROGRAM

Our staff work very hard to make sure that Children are well cared for and have every opportunity to grow and develop. The ‘All Star’ program is set up to show staff how much we appreciate them and recognize their tireless efforts of caring for our Children and Youth. Please help us by writing ‘star notes’ for excellence that you see. Each facility has a special location for the ‘All Star’ cards to be posted. At the end of each month, the cards will be collected and an award will be given for the caregiver who has the most ‘Star Cards’.

KIDS KONNECTION Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9-11 a.m., B321 This twice weekly ACS playgroup offers a fun and diverse format featuring music time, free play and special activity stations. Redefined for ages 6 weeks to 4 years, this program offers flexibility and opportunity to meet new people who are raising young children in our community.

SURVIVAL GERMAN 101 February 1, 2, 7 & 8, 9:30-11:30 a.m., B10A An introduction to German will make it easier for you to order food in restaurants, shop, travel, ask for directions and understand German doctors. You will simply feel more comfortable living in Germany. This could be the best use of 8 hours of your life ever. IMPORTANT NOTE: These are sequential classes that build on each other. Course consists of four two hour classes.

WIC STORY TIME February 7, 1-1:30 p.m., B10A A special nutritional story time for young mothers and their pre-school children. Learn about how to get all the nutrients you need to be healthy and help your kids grow.

RESUME WRITING February 8, 10-11:30 a.m., B10A Get some special help and insight into writing civilian and federal resumes and cover letters which are valuable in doing what you need done: separating you and your resume from everyone else’s. We’re also discussing best practices in locating federal jobs using USAJOBS, as well as other important tips to getting noticed and hired!

HALLO HOHENFELS NEWCOMERS ORIENTATION February 21-24, B10A This is the place to be if you’re new to the community. In addition to learning some German language, you will explore local communities (including a bakery and butcher shop), discover Mobelhof, a huge home decorating store and spend the final day site seeing in Regensburg. Find out how your new community works without doing everything yourself and make some new friends at the same time. Special DOUBLE bonus: a visit to the epicenter of the rotations: the “Star Wars” building and a visit to the training area, a “Box Tour.”

ICE SKATING IN THE CITY Wednesdays, Outdoor Recreation, H15 A study by the University of Oxford suggests that the earliest ice skating happened in southern Finland more than 3,000 years ago. Continue this age-old tradition by taking a whirl with Outdoor Recreation every Wednesday night this winter. Price: $29/person

CYS SKIESUnlimited Classes

SKIESUnlimited stands for “School of Knowledge, Inspiration, Exploration and Skills” with the word “Unlimited” for the unlimited possibilities that this program provides Children and Youth. LAPSIT STORYTIME Wednesdays, 11:10 a.m. - noon, Library, B49 A great weekly learning event full of stories, music and play for infants and their parents. This is a great opportunity to introduce the basic building blocks of early literacy while establishing positive habits and routines in reading for babies and their parents.

CHILDREN’S STORYTIME Thursdays, 10-11 a.m., Library, B49 Bring your little one to the library and listen to stories read aloud by our library staff. What better way to spend your day than to be in the imagination of a child and a good book!
