FAMILY AND MWR HIRING EVENT

November 2, 11 a..m - 1 p.m., Youth Center, B72 Representatives from Family and MWR programs such as Child & Youth Services (CYS) and Army Community Service (ACS) will be present to talk about their organizations and the career opportunities they offer. Interview rooms will also be set up. Bring your résumé, dress for success and start the application process!

GINGERBREAD HOUSE CONTEST: SUBMISSIONS OPEN

November 2-30, Library, B49 The annual Gingerbread House contest is back at the Library! Pick up entry forms starting November 2. Submissions are due by November 30. Voting will begin on December 5, and winners will be announced on December 14.

PUMPKING LOVE BAKING CONTEST

November 8, 3-5 p.m., Library, B49 Sweet and savory recipes are both welcome, but the main ingredient must be pumpkin! Entry forms are available October 27 November 3. Bakers, chefs, families and all are welcome to attend the judging.

CORKS & CANVAS

November 10, 6:45 p.m., The Zone, B150 Paint your heart away while laughing, joking and enjoying a glass of your favorite drink! During each class we paint a special surprise that will be unveiled the day of the event. Classes (and glasses!) fill up quickly, so register today! Price: $25/person (pre-register for $20)

1000-LB CHALLENGE

November 11, Hohenfels Post Gym, B88 Compete in three different events: bench press, dead lift and squat. Each participant is allowed three attempts at each venue. Earn a T-shirt and bragging rights! Register by November 10. Price: $10 entry fee

LEARN TO SKI/SNOWBOARD AT HINTERTUX*

November 11-12, Outdoor Recreation, H15 Get the most out of the winter season - learn to ski or snowboard on Austria’s beautiful Hintertux Glacier! Learn from time-tested instruction in the space of two snowy days. Ski and snowboard lessons are offered daily by professionally certified PSIA and AASI instructors. Includes lodging, equipment and lessons. Lift passes not included. Price: $179/person

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS CHEERLEADERS

November 14, Tower Barracks, Grafenwoehr The Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleaders are hosting a cheerleading clinic for ages 5-18 at the Tower Barracks Field House from 4:30-6 p.m., and then a Meet & Greet from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Tower Barracks Exchange.

VIENNA CHRISTMAS MARKET*

November 19, Outdoor Recreation, H15 Vienna has several amazing Christmas Markets, all known to be among the best in all of Europe. Come browse the markets of the Rathausplatz, Schoenbrunn Palace, Karlskirche, Spittelberg and several other quaint spots. Visitors can also watch the glassblowers and bakers in action at the craft booths. Maps of Vienna and Christmas Markets provided along with transportation to Austria. November 23-26, Outdoor Recreation, H15 Experience Thanksgiving in the Austrian Alps! Join Hohenfels Outdoor Recreation for a family friendly ski and snowboard trip to Soelden, Austria. Ski and snowboard lessons are available daily by professionally certified PSIA and AASI instructors. November 30 - December 2, Community Activity Center (CAC), B40 and B47 Get started on your holiday shopping! Come shop a variety of gifts from over 40 vendors, including wine, cheese, clothing, furniture, home decor, jewelry and more.

CYS “ALL STAR” PROGRAM

Our staff work very hard to make sure that Children are well cared for and have every opportunity to grow and develop. The ‘All Star’ program is set up to show staff how much we appreciate them and recognize their tireless efforts of caring for our Children and Youth. Please help us by writing ‘star notes’ for excellence that you see. Each facility has a special location for the ‘All Star’ cards to be posted. At the end of each month, the cards will be collected and an award will be given for the caregiver who has the most ‘Star Cards’.

INFANT MASSAGE November 3, 10:30-11:30 a.m., B96 Bond with your baby while learning International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM) techniques to help relieve tension, gas and colic through a relaxing infant massage. Registration required.

GERMAN 101 November 6-9, 9:30-11:30 a.m., B10 An introduction to German will make it easier for you to order food in restaurants, shop, travel, ask for directions and understand German doctors. Make yourself more comfortable living in Germany by learning basic phrases. IMPORTANT NOTE: These are sequential classes that build on each other. Course consists of four 2-hour classes.

BABY BOOT CAMP November 7 & 14, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m., B10 If you think about it, the reason for Boot Camp, really the reason for any kind of training is to get ready for the ‘main’ event. This 7-part rotating program answers questions most books and programs don’t. Geared for parents-to-be, this workshop covers topics such as birth certificate process in Germany, breast feeding, personal expectations, bringing baby home and much more.

HALLO HOHENFELS NEWCOMERS ORIENTATION November 14-16, B10 This is the place to be if you’re new to the community. In addition to learning some German language, you will explore local community and find out how your new community works without doing everything yourself. This is a great opportunity to make some new friends at the same time. Special DOUBLE bonus n(*when JMRC is not in rotation): a visit to the epicenter of the rotations: the “Star Wars” building and a visit to the training area, a “Box Tour.”

EMERGENCY PLACEMENT CARE (EPC) ORIENTATION November 16, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m., B10 ACS is in search of caring individuals who are willing to open their hearts and homes to military children who require a little extra love and attention while their parent or guardian is unable to care for them. This program is designed to provide temporary assistance to families in crisis.

CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION & IDENTIFICATION November 16, 3-4 p.m., B44 Learn how to identify signs of child abuse and neglect and appropriate reporting procedures within the local community.

Ongoing Programs GAMERS NIGHT

Mondays, 6 p.m., Bowling Center, B14 All gamers welcome. Come and pit your skills against others with the same interests. Games include Warhammer 40K, Dungeons & Dragons, Star Fleet Battles, Zombicide, Magic the Gathering and many others. Have a game you would like to try out? Bring it along!

HALF PRICE TUESDAYS

Tuesdays, Kids Zone, B40 Admission to the Kids Zone is only half price on Tuesdays. Come enjoy a fun afternoon with us!

RED PIN BOWLING Fridays, 6 p.m., Bowling Center, B14 A Red Pin is added to every lane. If the Red Pin is in the #1 position and you bowl a strike that frame, you win a free game. Attendant must be informed and pin spot verified before bowling.

COSMIC BOWLING

Saturdays, 6 p.m., Bowling Center, B14 We’ll have the lights out and the black lights on! Enjoy R&B music while getting your bowl on.

INDOOR CLIMBING Tuesdays No experience is required to have a go at this sport. On alternating Tuesdays, “boulder” and “top rope” at the local gyms of Nuremburg and Regensburg. Join the greater outdoor recreation community and learn why climbing is one of the best social exercises for all ages.

KIDS KONNECTION Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9-11 a.m., B321 This twice weekly ACS playgroup offers a fun and diverse format featuring music time, free play and special activity stations. Redefined for ages 6 weeks to 4 years, this program offers flexibility and opportunity to meet new people who are raising young children in our community.

STRESS MANAGEMENT November 7, 10-11 a.m., B10 Learn about the different kinds of stress and how problematic stress an affect your mental and physical health. Identify your warning signs and the sources of your stress then learn how to better manage stress by, among other things, learning to let go.

ANGER MANAGEMENT November 21, 10-11 a.m., B10 Anger is a natural emotional reaction. If not managed well, however, it can cause many problems from health issues to problems getting along with others, including your husband or wife. Learning more effective ways of dealing with conflict may just help you live a happier and more peaceful life.

CHESS CLUB Tuesdays, 3-4 p.m., Library, B49

A fun weekly learning event full of stories, music and play for infants and their parents. This is a great opportunity to introduce the basic building blocks of early literacy while establishing positive habits and routines in reading for babies and their parents.

Bring your little one to the library and listen to stories read aloud by our library staff. What better way to spend your day than to be in the imagination of a child and a good book!

Take some time for yourself and read a good book with us! Join our Eclectic Book Club as we embark on epic journeys through books, with the added bonus of talking about them afterwards. Newcomers are always welcome.

CYS SKIESUnlimited Classes SKIESUnlimited stands for “School of Knowledge, Inspiration, Exploration and Skills” with the word “Unlimited” for the unlimited possibilities that this program provides Children and Youth. Classes include Break Dancing, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Tiny Tumblers, Karate, Tutoring, Soccer Skills Academy and Yoga.
