COLOR INSPIRATION S/S 18 GRAHAM LEWIS
LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
Color is something that is very personal to most – a very subjective choice as to what colors individuals are drawn to. Some may hate the color yellow, while some may love it. Color shows a lot about character. However, the personal color choices one chooses to make for the color of their clothing, home, car...etc. speaks volumes as to that persons personality. This is true for both men and women alike. While women, generally, are seen showcasing their color choices more confidently, the modern day man is finally catching up. Throughout this color story report, I have geared my array of color schemes strictly towards what colors will be seen in menswear in spring // summer of 2018. While there are a few more bold color pallets such as Putrid Pops and Bubblegum Fancy, the majority of the color stories (Hardly Illuminated, Colorless Concrete, and Soldier Boy) feature classic color choices often seen being worn by the modern man – only this time pushing those classic color choices just a bit further which is demonstrated in the following TOBE report on How He Wears It. Henceforth, for this season’s color pallets, I hope that men will be able to express themselves through the avenue of color – whether those colors be darks, neutrals, or bolds. Embrace those colors that speak to you and rock them with confidence. Everyone loves a man who knows he looks good – just make sure to never overdue it. Cheers,

BUBBLEGUM FANCY
Inspired by naturally occurring pastel colors found through everyday observation. Instead of the typical variations of the Easter pastel color pallet, Bubblegum Fancy offers a new take on classic pastel colors. Working with more natural tones, tints, and saturation levels of the standard pastel palette. Straying away from artificial looking colors is what Bubblegum Fancy aims to do – with the end result being a sophisticated take on pastels.

COLORLESS CONCRETE
Colorless Concrete is inspired by the neutral color palette found in heavily populated urban jungles. From the cool neutral tones coming from bland buildings to the dull grey of concrete paved streets, Colorless Concrete focuses on the dull colors that go unnoticed. They are the neutrals that blend everything together, the colors that can be found in every man’s wardrobe. These colors are simple but function as the foundation for all other colors. Clean and refined variants of greys, crèmes and deep blues are the base of this color monochromatic color story.

PUTRID POPS
This color story features the unusual but powerful colors that are almost always overlooked. Putrid Pops derives its color story from messy artwork or even the painter’s palette of the artist that formed the messy artwork. The blending of extremely loud colors that spewed themselves together on a painter’s palette ultimately creates an art piece of its own. The unusual combination of these obtrusive colors makes for a powerful standout color scheme that simply can’t go unnoticed. Putrid Pops celebrates those obtrusive colors and embraces their boldness – ultimately forming a color scheme that is unmatched.

HARDLY ILLUMINATED
Hardly Illuminated is a color story that pulls its inspiration from very exploring new territories in unfamiliar locations. Those locations being industrial urban settings such as abandoned factories, underneath underpasses, and graffitied up tunnels. Drawing from the dark and eerie vibes felt from these locations, Hardly Illuminated focuses on deep blues, browns and greys with the occasional accent color of a yellow or white that represents the small amount of natural light found in these hidden hideouts. The color story is supposed to represent an eerie mood that tackles the emotions one feels when being somewhere they know they shouldn’t be.

SOLDIER BOY
This color story behind the Soldier Boy color story is derived from the colors found in the military and military uniforms, ultimately creating a color palette that a soldier in battle would wear. The contrast between darks, lights, and neutrals captures a very earthy vibe that military uniforms aim to feature as they act as a uniform of camouflage. Solider Boy is meant to put forward a color story that feels very in tune with nature and help those outdoor adventurers and explorers to blend into the nature surrounding them. Deep and light greens, crèmes, and variants of brown will be found in Soldier Boy story to make sure wilderness wonderers feel as though that are at one with their surroundings.
