INFORMATION UPDATE! SPRING GARDENING Want to have freshly grown veggies for your table come summertime? Now is the time to start planning your container garden. When purchasing containers, keep in mind that terra cotta pots are porous and may require more watering. Dark colored pots can absorb the heat and if placed in the sun can make the soil too warm for some plants. Treated wood containers can contain chemicals which can be harmful to plants, so you will want to avoid those as well. Be sure to choose containers which are large enough for your plants and provide adequate drainage. Not sure what to grow? Tomatoes are a favorite for container gardens. They are hearty, easy to grow and can be very productive. Peas and radishes grow quickly and without much space or attention. Peppers of all types are generally easy to grow as well and are great grilled or in salads. Zucchini, while a larger plant will work in a container garden and will produce plenty. Green beans can even be grown in a container if you place the sprouts on trellises early on. Lettuce is great in the garden and can be harvested many times per season. Remember to choose plants based on the amount of sunlight you get on your patio, as some plants, like spinach are best with partial shade. Looking to repel mosquitos? Plant basil, lemon thyme, lavender or rosemary, as these plants are known to keep these pests away. Container gardening not only will produce great items for the summer grill or salads, they also look great on any patio or balcony!

Faith Landing’s April Newsletter KEEPING THE PESTS AWAY – FOR GOOD! As we head into the warmer weather, we may see an increase in the flying, crawling, and creeping little critters around the property. Our pest control contractors do their very best to keep these critters outside instead of in your apartments by treating the exteriors regularly with a barrier, but we need your help too. If you do find some type of bugs or spiders making their home in your apartment, please let us know and we will contact our contracted pest control vendor to take care of them. We do not want residents spraying or treating their own apartments. Often times, treatments found in the stores will just make the critters move out of the treated unit into another, rather than actually getting rid of them. Then they will just return when the treatment wears off. Additionally, some store treatments will cause stress to the colony and make them split their colony causing more problems due to an increase in colonies, therefore an increase in the insects. Other treatments can have attractants in them to draw the bugs in so that they will hopefully get to the bait but this can cause an increase in activity in your apartment. This being said, we ask you call the leasing office if you are having an issue with bugs and allow our contracted pest control experts do their job in keeping the apartments as pest free as possible. Wasps nests on the buildings? We’ll take care of that too. Just let the leasing office know the location.

Survey Monkey We need your input regarding our newsletter. We want to make sure that it’s available in a format that you want and includes all of the information you are wanting and needing as a resident on our property. We will be sending the link for the survey to your email, but you can also go to the following to log on: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8C7SRF2

The survey takes only a couple of minutes to

complete and your response is appreciated.

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED Each month we list reminders for residents regarding important community issues. While we dislike having to be repetitive, there are several issues which we have posted, which haven’t gotten the response we anticipated. For that reason, we are again posting the following items which REQUIRE the compliance of our residents to make Faith Landing the best apartment community it can be: EMERGENCY LINE IS FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY! – This line is only to be used in case of a maintenance or property emergency. Examples of emergencies are:  Water is leaking anywhere in the apartment,  No hot water  Heater not working (in cold weather)  Toilet is stopped up or overflowing (If you have two bathrooms, and only one toilet is stopped up and is not overflowing, this is not an emergency)  A window or door is damaged in such a way as to now allow your apartment to be secured. Calls to the maintenance line which are not emergencies may incur an after-hours maintenance charge of $80.00. NO PARKING AT ANY TIME IN SPACES WHICH ARE NOT ASSIGNED TO YOU! – Whether it is the weekend, evening, or you think it belongs to a vacant apartment; if it’s not your assigned spot, you are NOT permitted to park there at any time. Your vehicle will be towed. DOGS MUST BE ON THE LEASH AND LEASE! – All pets residing in the apartment must be over a year old, under 100 lbs. and comply with breed restrictions. Any pets, new or otherwise, which are not on your lease must be reported to the leasing office. All dogs outside of the apartment MUST be on a leash AT ALL TIMES! This is not only Caldwell City Code; it is part of our CCR’s and a lease requirement as per the Pet Addendum. NO EXCEPTIONS! Additionally, dogs may not be left unaccompanied on patios or balconies. Any pet waste must be cleaned up immediately!

Together we can keep Faith Landing the best apartment community in Caldwell!
