FIRE UP THE GRILL! Warm weather means grilling weather! There’s nothing like a delicious hamburger or steak cooked out on the grill. While there are great benefits to cooking outdoors (less clean up in the kitchen), there are a few reminders that we want to share with our residents in order to keep our apartment complex as safe as possible:  Only gas grills are allowed – charcoal grills, standing fire pits and turkey fryers are prohibited.  Grills should be placed well away from the patio or balcony door and close to the railing and fire sprinkler located on the exterior wall of the patio or balcony.  Never leave a grill unattended  Always make sure your gas grill lid is open before lighting it.  Make certain that the grill is level and stable.  Use insulated, flame retardant mitts, barbeque tongs and utensils when grilling.  Propane tank is never to be stored indoors or near grill.  Turn off the fuel supply to the grill first and then the burners when grilling is done.  Check the grill regularly for signs of wear and tear, especially hose cracks and leaks.  KNOW WHERE THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER IS LOCATED IN THE BUILDING STAIRWELL. AND KNOW HOW TO USE IT PROPERLY. Every year 20-30 people are injured in the approximate 600 grill fires that take place nationwide. Additionally, over $27 million dollars in property damage have been caused by these fires. Let’s be extra safe this grilling season and enjoy the benefits of grilling safely.

Shakespeare Under The Stars The evenings are staying warmer, and the days are getting longer. It’s the perfect time to reserve your seat for the Idaho Shakespeare Festival’s 2016 season. Starting off with “And Then There Were None” on May 27th, the season will continue through September and offer titles such as “My Fair Lady”, “Twelfth Night”, and “Forever Plaid”. Come sit in the beautiful outdoor amphitheater and enjoy the show. Patrons are encouraged to bring blankets and low backed lawn chairs, as well their own picnic and beverages. If you don’t want to bring your own, there is food service from Café Shakespeare, and even chairs to rent for a minimal fee. Go to www.idahoshakespeare.org for reservations, schedules, and more information about how to be a part of the Idaho Shakespeare Festival experience.

For the best flavor, be sure to marinate this meat at least 6 hours before grilling.

Ingredients: ¼ cup honey ¼ cup soy sauce ¼ cup oyster sauce 2 Tbsp. brown sugar 4 tsp. minced fresh ginger 1 tbsp. ketchup 1 tbsp. minced garlic ¼ tsp. onion powder ¼ tsp. cayenne pepper ¼ tsp. ground cinnamon 2 (12 ounce) pork tenderloins www.allrecipes.com

Directions: Whisk honey, soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, ginger, ketchup, garlic, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and cinnamon in a bowl. Pour into a resealable plastic bag. Add pork and coat it with the marinade, being sure to squeeze excess air out of the bag prior to sealing. Marinate in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Preheat the grill for medium heat and lightly oil the grate. Remove the pork from the marinade and shake off the excess. Discard the remaining marinade. Cook the pork tenderloins on preheated grill until no longer pink in the center, 20 – 30 minutes, turning occasionally. A thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 145 degrees F. Slice the tenderloin and serve.
