FIRE UP THE GRILL! Warm weather means grilling weather! There’s nothing like a delicious hamburger or steak cooked out on the grill. While there are great benefits to cooking outdoors (less clean up in the kitchen), there are a few reminders that we want to share with our residents in order to keep our apartment complex as safe as possible: Only gas grills are allowed – charcoal grills, standing fire pits and turkey fryers are prohibited. Grills should be placed well away from the patio or balcony door and close to the railing and fire sprinkler located on the exterior wall of the patio or balcony. Never leave a grill unattended Always make sure your gas grill lid is open before lighting it. Make certain that the grill is level and stable. Use insulated, flame retardant mitts, barbeque tongs and utensils when grilling. Propane tank is never to be stored indoors or near grill. Turn off the fuel supply to the grill first and then the burners when grilling is done. Check the grill regularly for signs of wear and tear, especially hose cracks and leaks. KNOW WHERE THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER IS LOCATED IN THE BUILDING STAIRWELL. AND KNOW HOW TO USE IT PROPERLY. Every year 20-30 people are injured in the approximate 600 grill fires that take place nationwide. Additionally, over $27 million dollars in property damage have been caused by these fires. Let’s be extra safe this grilling season and enjoy the benefits of grilling safely.
Shakespeare Under The Stars The evenings are staying warmer, and the days are getting longer. It’s the perfect time to reserve your seat for the Idaho Shakespeare Festival’s 2016 season. Starting off with “And Then There Were None” on May 27th, the season will continue through September and offer titles such as “My Fair Lady”, “Twelfth Night”, and “Forever Plaid”. Come sit in the beautiful outdoor amphitheater and enjoy the show. Patrons are encouraged to bring blankets and low backed lawn chairs, as well their own picnic and beverages. If you don’t want to bring your own, there is food service from Café Shakespeare, and even chairs to rent for a minimal fee. Go to www.idahoshakespeare.org for reservations, schedules, and more information about how to be a part of the Idaho Shakespeare Festival experience.

Community Yard Sale! Be sure to contact the leasing office to reserve your space at the June Faith Landing Community Yard Sale. Spaces are limited, so act quickly for the chance to have a space at this year’s event scheduled for June 4th.
For the best flavor, be sure to marinate this meat at least 6 hours before grilling.
Ingredients: ¼ cup honey ¼ cup soy sauce ¼ cup oyster sauce 2 Tbsp. brown sugar 4 tsp. minced fresh ginger 1 tbsp. ketchup 1 tbsp. minced garlic ¼ tsp. onion powder ¼ tsp. cayenne pepper ¼ tsp. ground cinnamon 2 (12 ounce) pork tenderloins www.allrecipes.com
Directions: Whisk honey, soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, ginger, ketchup, garlic, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and cinnamon in a bowl. Pour into a resealable plastic bag. Add pork and coat it with the marinade, being sure to squeeze excess air out of the bag prior to sealing. Marinate in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Preheat the grill for medium heat and lightly oil the grate. Remove the pork from the marinade and shake off the excess. Discard the remaining marinade. Cook the pork tenderloins on preheated grill until no longer pink in the center, 20 – 30 minutes, turning occasionally. A thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 145 degrees F. Slice the tenderloin and serve.

KEEPING OUR PROPERTY SAFE With warm temperatures finally approaching more people will be out and about. Here at Faith Landing there are 228 apartment homes and approximately 500 individuals calling this home. The staff strives to provide a safe apartment community; but there are times when we cannot see things that are going on around the property. This is when we rely on our residents to help us out. If you see something on the property that you feel is not good, call the office if it is during office hours and one of us will come and check on a situation to make sure our community is safe. If the office is closed and you see something that you think may be illegal: please call the Caldwell Police Department’s dispatch number at (208) 454-7531. We are working to make sure our community is a safe place for everyone to call home. We are more than happy to call the police anytime that we think there could be any form of illegal activity going on. Another way we are working to strength our community is with the Crime Free/Drug-Free Housing Addendum that is part of all leases. Any resident or resident’s guest that is arrested for criminal activity is a violation of the addendum and is cause for termination of the lease. “I am a strong individualist by personal habit, inheritance, and conviction; but it is a mere matter of common sense to recognize that the State, the community, the citizens acting together, can do a number of things better than if they were left to individual action.” -Theodore Roosevelt As a community let’s work together to be united.
Spring Clean Up Opportunity Spring is a great time to clean out and throw away items that are just taking up space in your apartment. We do not normally allow large items to be thrown into the dumpsters since the garbage service will not take them. So from May 27th through June 10th we are offering large dumpsters that will be located at the back of the property in the Isaiah Way cul-de-sac so that you can dispose of items that would normally not be allowed into the dumpsters. Please take this opportunity to clear out any items that you no longer want. The dumpsters will be removed after June 10th so be sure to take advantage of this opportunity.
Pool Party! All residents are invited to join us for the annual Faith Landing Community Pool Opening Party on Friday, May 27th from 3 pm – 5:30 pm. This event will kick off the swimming season with a barbeque – hot dogs, hamburgers and fun!
See you at the BBQ! And Happy Swimming! If you haven’t already, be sure to follow Faith Landing on Facebook for property reminders, updates, and sometimes just some laughter!
