Clean Dishes, Clean Dishwasher Even though dishwashers are intended to get our dishes clean, every now and then, they need a good cleaning as well. Food particles and debris can build up leaving a less than fresh smell when we open the dishwasher door. By taking a few minutes every few months to deep clean your dishwasher, you will not only keep the kitchen fresh but also help to make your dishwasher run more efficiently. 1. Just after running a cycle, empty the dishwasher completely, taking out the racks and utensil tray. 2. Check the spinning arm to make sure all of the holes are open so water can freely go though them. Clean any debris out of them with a toothpick. 3. Clean under the bottom of the door. Water doesn’t hit this area often so debris and can accumulate here. Wipe this down thoroughly with a vinegar soaked cloth. 4. Inspect the floor drain of the washer which has a grate around it. Look for debris such as food particles, jar labels, or stickers that come off in the washer that may accumulate in this area and remove them. 5. Wipe around the seal of the dishwasher with a cloth soaked in vinegar and a few drops of lemon juice. 6. Make a baking soda paste by mixing about 2 tablespoons of baking soda with a small amount of warm water. Use this with the toothbrush to gently scrub around the drain grate. 7. Hand wash the utensil holder with dish soap and warm water. 8. Pour two cups of white vinegar in the bottom of the dishwasher and run on a short cycle, stopping mid-cycle to allow the vinegar to sit and work. Let stand for 20 minutes then finish the cycle. 9. Wipe down the door panel and button panel with a vinegar soaked cloth and enjoy your clean dishwasher.

Overnight Blueberry French Toast Looking to make something special to make this Mother’s Day? Try this delicious French Toast. It’s a one of a kind breakfast dish that will have everyone asking for seconds. Ingredients: 12 slices day old bread (French Italian works best) cut in cubes 2 (8 oz.) packages cream cheese 2 cups fresh blueberries (divided) 1 tbsp. butter 2 cups milk 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1/3 cup maple syrup 1 cup white sugar 2 tbsp. cornstarch 1 cup water 12 eggs beaten

Directions: Lightly grease a 13x9 baking dish. Arrange half the bread cubes in the dish and top with cream cheese cubes. Sprinkle 1 cup blueberries over the cream cheese, and top with remaining bread crumbs. In a large bowl, mix the eggs, milk, vanilla, and syrup. Pour over the bread cubes. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Remove from the refrigerator about 30 minutes before baking. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cover and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and continue baking for another 25-30 minutes until center is firm and surface is lightly browned. In medium saucepan, mix sugar, cornstarch, and water. Bring to a boil. Stirring con-stantly, cook for 3-4 minutes. Mix the remaining 1 cup blueberries. Reduce heat and simmer for10 minutes. Stir in the butter, mix and pour over the French toast. Serve and enjoy!
