If you have air conditioning units on the ground, please make sure they are secure, and you insurance coverage is up to date. If the units are on the roof, please make sure that access to the roof is not easy.

Brethren, Friends, and Family, Last year, the Masonic Charities of Arizona approved 20 grants totaling $36,000 to organizations throughout Arizona. Each month we will share a Trestleboard article from one of the lodges around the state of Arizona. This month, we share an article from the July Trestleboard of Sy Harrison Lodge No. 70—written by WM John B Brooks.
From the East The Arizona Sun is high and hot, June is not yet over, and smoke and flame has driven some of the brothers of this lodge (myself included) to seek refuge and safety away from the comfort and convenience of our own homes. In such times, compassion, brotherly love and understanding become more than just words and a Mason true in heart need not be told this. A mason should not need to be reminded of his duty or his obligation to his brothers. We as Masons reach out to one another and into our communities. I am proud to see in this time of need that my brother Masons at Sy Harrison have, without direction or instruction, stepped up and are doing their part to watch out for each other and our communities. I want to thank the brothers who have checked in to see if my wife and I were ok and offer what assistance they could. As I write this, there is still danger for the Pine and Strawberry communities and I have no doubt if need arises, you my brothers will arise to meet the challenges as Masons have done time and again throughout history to set the example in difficult times. I will cut this short and end with this request; forget not the medium of prayer, it is as much a tool as the trowel, compasses or square. ………………..John B Brooks, Master Sy Harrison Lodge No. 70

During the pandemic, 70% of the workforce worked remotely. As companies began trying to bring employees back into the office, many said No –we must have remote. As the working world faces new realities, so will Freemasonry. In order to adapt, it is important to clearly define organizational goals and leadership styles. The Copper Post The Symbolism of Freemasonry: Illustrating and explaining tis science and philosophy, its legends, myths and symbols
By Albert G. Mackey, M.D. 1882 XVI. The Covering of the Lodge - On Charity “There is, then, an anomaly in giving to the mystical ladder of Masonry only three rounds. It is an anomaly, however, with which Masonry has had nothing to do. The error arose from the ignorance of those inventors who first engraved the masonic symbols for our monitors. The ladder of Masonry, like the equipollent ladders of its kindred institutions, always had seven steps, although in modern times the three principal or upper ones are alone alluded to. These rounds, beginning at the lowest, are Temperance, Fortitude, Prudence, Justice, Faith, Hope, and Charity. Charity, therefore, takes the same place in the ladder of masonic virtues as the sun does in the ladder of planets. In the ladder of metals we find gold, and in that of colors yellow, occupying the same elevated position. Now, St. Paul explains Charity as signifying, not alms-giving, which is the modern popular meaning, but love—that love which "suffereth long and is kind;" and when, in our lectures on this subject, we speak of it as the greatest of virtues, because, when Faith is lost and Hope has ceased, it extends "beyond the grave to realms of endless bliss," we there refer it to the Divine Love of our Creator. But Portal, in his Essay on Symbolic Colors, informs us that the sun represents Divine Love, and gold indicates the goodness of God. So that if Charity is equivalent to Divine Love, and Divine Love is represented by the sun, and lastly, if Charity be the topmost round of the masonic ladder, then again we arrive, as the result of our researches, at the symbol so often already repeated of the solar orb. The natural sun or the spiritual sun—the sun, either as the vivifying principle of animated nature, and therefore the special object of adoration, or as the most prominent instrument of the Creator's benevolence—was ever a leading idea in the symbolism of antiquity.”

Masonic Foundation for Children Over 2,000 educators trained About MSAP
and 30,000 children's lives affected!
What is the Masonic Model Student Assistance Program(MSAP)? Teachers are not experts in at risk behavior which is why we developed the MSAP. Our training includes a highly professional and intensive three-day training workshop for Arizona educators to learn to improve their ability to: identify, intervene with, and create appropriate intervention plans for students at risk. This workshop trains a core team of four to eight educators from a school in how to intervene early and effectively with students that display patterns of behaviors that threaten their success at school and life. MSAP involves practice sessions designed to simulate real events on subjects such as: •
Chemical dependency
•
Depression & Suicide
•
Conflict, Anger & Violence
•
Family Dynamics & Enabling
•
Life Skills Development
•
Treatment & Aftercare
•
Communication Skills
•
Group Process & Intervention

Masonic Foundation for Children (AMFC) The Arizona Masonic Family
Changing and Saving “At Risk” Children's Lives by Worshipful Brother Jerry Badinger Over the next few months, we at the Foundation are going to use the Copper Post to attempt to improve the overall knowledge of the Masons of Arizona about the Foundation and its Children at Risk Program, which in support of the Masons of Arizona over the past 25 years has changed the lives, in a positive way, of over 30,000 at risk children. HISTORY OF THE FOUNDATION Let’s start in the beginning. The Arizona Masonic Foundation for Children was incorporated in November 1995 and became tax exempt as a 501c (3) corporation on October 29, 1997 and is registered with Secretary of State as a charitable organization under ARS 44.6552. The names of such Arizona Masons as Gerald H. Lankin, John Krom, C. A. Metcalf, Jr., William Jeffers, Jr., Larry Schafer, Ron Allen and Robert F. Henderson appear on the Articles of Incorporation which stated: “the initial and principal purposes of the corporation shall be to do, only in a charitable manner, all those things that will develop character and usefulness of youth, improve the spiritual, mental, social and physical condition of boys and young men, and girls and young women in the State of Arizona; foster responsible citizens; combat and curb juvenile delinquency…” “…by sponsoring, organizing and operating, without profit to the corporation, programs directed at advancing the education of youth, drug and alcohol abuse programs, and other types of youth-oriented activities,…” AMFC builds on Freemasonry's centuries-old tradition of helping the most vulnerable in our society, including the very young. Today, more than ever, children need help in becoming responsible adults as they face countless challenges - broken homes, patterns of substance abuse in families, a complex world with many traditional nurturing institutions shaken. Freemasons are sensitive to the fundamental belief that our children are our future. We cannot neglect the needs of today's children if we expect them to grow up to be happy, healthy, productive stewards of our future. We, the Masons of Arizona have not neglected the needs of those children since that fateful day in 1995. Primarily we have done this through the Masonic Model Student Assistance Program (MSAP) or Children @Risk Program as some of you know it and doing it quite well! To date we have changed the lives, in a positive way, of over 30,000 At Risk Children. Next month, join us as we talk about how the Pandemic has affected our program and what we’re doing to address it.
