General Manager’s Corner

September is here, bringing with it shorter days and (hopefully!) cooler temperatures! Our service professionals are gearing up for the fall season and the return of many of our valued Members to Reunion Resort & Club. There are many events planned this fall for our Members at Reunion, from Member trips to the Morse Museum and the Barbara Lee Riverboat tour and luncheon, to the 9th annual Member Guest tournament in October, to the 8th annual Ladies Health and Beauty Retreat in early November and the return of Homecoming November 21-23. In addition, the driving range mats are successfully allowing the base Bermuda grass to thrive with the wet summer season we have had in Central Florida. We look forward to great course conditions in the coming fall and winter months. The colder it gets up north, the more visitors come to Reunion to enjoy the warmer climate, so for those of you who own homes at Reunion, this is the perfect time to look into our new single family homes rental program! Read more about this exciting opportunity on page 5. Sincerely,

Carlton W. Grant, CHA

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

NEW SINGLE FAMILY HOMES RENTAL PROGRAM ANNOUNCED It is with great pleasure that we announce an exciting new direction for our single family homes rental program. Highlights of the new single family homes rental program include:

MEMBERSHIP RECORDS AUDIT

• No management fee.

The Reunion Membership Office will be conducting an audit of Membership records in the coming months in order to ensure all information is up-to-date and Members are in the proper Membership category. As a reminder, immediate family privileges are offered to a Member, his or her spouse and their unmarried children, under the age of twentythree (23), who are living at home, attending school on a full-time basis or in the military.

• No marketing fee.

If needed information is missing from your Membership Agreement, a Membership representative will be contacting you in order to update our files; we hope to have this project completed by the end of the Membership Year (December 31, 2014). Your prompt cooperation is greatly appreciated as we work to ensure that we have the most accurate data on file.

• Owners will receive a 50% discount off the Social Membership dues portion of the monthly Golf or Social dues, currently equal to a $185 credit each month.

• Resort Guests will have unlimited access to the amenities and facilities of the Club, providing an enormous benefit to renters and offering a distinct advantage over other programs in the Orlando market.

• The homes website will be redesigned and incorporated more intrinsically into the main ReunionResort.com website, maximizing booking functionality, and the single family homes will see a greater distribution across vacation rental specific websites.

As a reminder, all Members are obligated to keep a valid approved credit card, or ACH Debit information to deduct outstanding balances directly from their bank account, on file If you are interested in more information on this program, please do not hesitate to contact the Rental Management Team at 407662.1050.

gath erings | 5

MEMBER PAYMENTS

• The Company’s management commission is 30%, with the remaining 70% share of the rental revenue being distributed to the owner.

Fourth of July Flag Day Tournament Our annual July 4 Flag Day event was held on the Watson Course and played in a stroke play format. Traditionally, each contestant receives a small American Flag that they hold onto until they have taken all their strokes (Par plus Handicap). The winner from two years ago, Leroy Smith III, completed the first hole and beat John Lanman, who was 8 inches from also completing the hole. In the Ladies division, we had Kris Lanman finish 12 feet from the first extra hole to take home the win.

Tray Maltby Tray Maltby Chosen to Receive Reunion Club Member Recognition Program (MERP) July Award During the past six months, members have been honoring Reunion employees for exceptional service they have performed by submitting Member Employee Recognition Program (MERP) ballots.

gath erings | 16

The winner of July MERP award is Tray Maltby. Tray has been with Reunion for 9 years and is currently our Director of Golf Course Maintenance. During this time, he has met with the Advisory Board of Governors Greens Committee to discuss various issues and project status having to do with the repercussions of drought and excess rain; course, bunker, greens and driving range conditions; over-seeding; landscaping; remedies to keep non-golfers off the cart paths and more. All golf maintenance issues discussed are posted on the Member’s website under the ABOG, Greens Committee page, so that our Members know what is being dealt with in real time.

His ballot read: “Our golf courses have been through a lot of play, drought, torrential rain storms and more. The primary reason they look as good as they do is because we have a knowledgeable person who puts his heart and soul into his job. This was evidenced last week as he worked again on his day off-this time to rid the greens of weeds resulting from the daily afternoon storms. This is just one example of many that shows his commitment to keep Reunion’s main attraction-our golf courses-beautiful”. Tray was honored during the August Member Reception. He also received a Reunion gift card and a special name tag symbolizing him as a Member Employee Recognition Program recipient. He will be considered, along with other MERP recipients, for the annual award which is a two-night stay in any one of the three Florida Salamander Resorts. Although only one employee receives this monthly award, all of the employees nominated receive peer and management recognition at special employee breakfasts throughout the year. Be sure to submit your MERP ballot (available on-line and all outlets) to keep the recognition going.

Inside T H E L I N E S SEPTEMBER TENNIS

Super Smashes

If you are having trouble hitting the strings on your overheads, here are some tips for you:

gath erings | 20

The overhead is the only shot in tennis that gains speed as it comes to you. Every other shot in tennis actually slows down. A serve that is hit 120 mph is actually only going 80 mph by the time it hits your racquet. With that said, you need to prepare early. Theoretically you should be able to tap your back two times before hitting the ball; by doing this, you are eliminating one of the biggest mistakes that a club player makes, not being prepared.

Most people think that an overhead should be hit directly over their head, but they are mistaken. The trajectory of the ball should be like you are trying to catch it in your mouth. This will put the ball more in front of you, making it easier to hit it down into the court. The last thing to help you have super smashes is to move your feet with your racquet up and ready. If you do these three tips, the next time you head out to the courts you will have super smashes.

AS WELL AS THE REGULAR 10% DISCOUNT, MEMBERS ALSO RECEIVE SPECIAL MEMBER PRICING MONDAYS-WEDNESDAYS ON SPA SERVICES.
