Dear Members, Spring is coming to a close and it’s almost time for summer at Hammock Beach. Let me start by wishing all of the moms a very happy Mother’s Day. May brings us lots of exciting and fun family activities. We’re offering plenty of ways to celebrate mom at Hammock Beach – from a Mother’s Day brunch at the Atlantic Grille to Mother’s Day brunch cruise aboard the Sundancer yacht. Don’t forget to treat mom with some much-deserved pampering at the spa. Hammock Beach will have lots of other exciting activities happening in May. Stop by the Atlantic Grille to try the Kentucky Derby-inspired Hot Brown sandwich or enjoy a colorful Cinco de Mayo menu at the Sand Trap Bar. Don’t forget about Memorial Day weekend dining at Loggerheads, which features a pasta creations station and chef’s carving board. For more information about our May events, please contact your membership office. Our public relations team has also been hard at work getting the coverage for Hammock Beach and our sister properties. Healthy Swimming By Thor Holm, Director of Spa, Recreation & Fitness

May 19-May 25 is National Water Illness and Injury Prevention Week. Many of you either own your own pool or frequent the pools here at the Club. Have you ever had to deal with an Accidental Fecal Release (AFR)? Do you know what you have to do? Do you know how long the Pool has to be closed and what levels the chlorine need to be to insure everyone’s safety. All of the Pool Tech’s Pool, Supervisors and Recreation Manager’s are Certified Pool Operators and have been trained and tested on how to keep our pool’s safe. There are steps that each of you can take to help us keep the pools safe for everyone. The following are tips for all swimmers: •D o not swim when you are ill or have diarrhea, you can spread germs through the water and make other people sick •D o not swallow Pool water and let water get in your mouth •S hower before swimming, wash your hands frequently, Germs on your body will end up in the water Tips for Parents are: •T ake children for frequent bathroom breaks, waiting to hear they have to go is often too late •C hange Diapers in the restroom on the diaper changing stations and not poolside •A fter changing your child wash them thoroughly These tips may seem obvious but if followed we can eliminate the need for closing the pools. If any of you would like instructions on how to respond to an accident in your own pool please free to contact me. Have a Healthy Swimming Season!
