Dear Members, We’re in the heart of fall at Reunion and we have lots of fun events and activities for all ages. October is full of spooky and not-so-spooky fun for the entire family. The Clubhouse will host a night of Scary-aoke and a costume contest. The costume contest will crown winners in the following categories: Funniest, cutest and scariest. In addition to ghoulish tunes and a costume contest, the Clubhouse will feature delicious snack and drink specials. Don’t forget to stop by the Spa at Reunion for autumn-inspired treatments that include the restorative benefits of pumpkin and spice. General Manager’s Corner

October has arrived, and with it many of our valued Members will return to the Club for warmer weather, the 9th Annual Member-Guest tournament and all the fall and winter activities planned for our Members this year. October also ushers in a new way for Reunion Resort & Club to showcase all we have to offer to potential property owners and Members. Beginning this month, the real estate office in the Grande, formerly the Grande Gift Shoppe, will become a one-stop “shop” for those interested in learning about Reunion properties for sale, Club Membership and placing their property in the Reunion Rental Program. The office will house representatives from Coldwell Banker Real Estate, Membership Sales and the Reunion Rental Management Team. This collaboration will provide our team the opportunity to increase the number of property sales, homes in the official Reunion Rental Program, and Memberships in general. By offering convenient access to all pertinent information in a prime and easily accessible location, it’s a win for everyone. Please watch for details of an upcoming Open House to introduce this new concept to all Members! In the meantime, we encourage you to stop by the new office to visit. See you at the Club! gath erings | 4

Sincerely,

Carlton W. Grant, CHA Managing Director Reunion Resort & Club

Membership Updates

MEMBERSHIP RECORDS AUDIT The Reunion Membership Office will be conducting an audit of Membership records in the coming months in order to ensure all information is up-to-date and Members are in the proper Membership category. As a reminder, immediate family privileges are offered to a Member, his or her spouse and their unmarried children, under the age of twenty-three (23), who are living at home, attending school on a full-time basis or in the military. If needed information is missing from your Membership Agreement, a Membership representative will be contacting you in order to update our files; we hope to have this project completed by the end of the Membership Year (December 31, 2014). Your prompt cooperation is greatly appreciated as we work to ensure that we have the most accurate data on file.

MEMBER SIGNATURES FOR CHARGES All Members are required to sign for items purchased at Reunion, from merchandise in the Golf and Tennis Shops, to Spa services, to food and beverages, including beverage cart purchases while on the golf courses. By signing the receipt when presented to you, you are confirming your purchase and ensuring that the transaction is closed. This process protects your Membership account and allows you to verify the charges.

4 Club Challenge Traditionally, the 4 Club Challenge event requires some careful consideration and tactics about which 4 clubs to choose for the round. The decision involves some pre- round practice, and if you were lucky enough to have participated in the past, you would be wiser with knowing which selection to make. Our Gross winner for the year was David Fitzgibbons with a score of 80, and our Net winner for this year was Lisa Coons with a score of 80. Great job guys!

Mark Fletcher Mark Fletcher Chosen to Receive Reunion Club Member Recognition Program (MERP) August Award Early this year, a group of Members on the Tennis, Recreation, and Events Committee worked with Reunion Management to establish the Member Employee Recognition Program (MERP). This Member initiated program provides us with an opportunity to recommend employees performing exceptional service for a monthly award.

gath erings | 16

During our September Member Reception, Mark Fletcher, who has held the position of bartender in our Eleven restaurant for the last seven years, was honored with the August MERP Award. Last month, Mark was nominated by three individual Members who made the following comments: “ Mark is pleasant, engaging and a wonderful bartender. He is very attentive and brings everyone into the

conversation occurring around the bar. He is one of the main reasons I go to Eleven”. “ Great bartender, I really enjoy his company. Fast with drinks and makes everyone feel comfortable”. “ Mark always greets customers with a cheerful smile, remembers my drink preferences, and knows everyone by name. These comments emphasize that Mark possesses the skills of not only a great bartender but one who knows how to provide Members with exceptional service. Mark was given a gift card and a special name tag that symbolizes him as a MERP recipient. He will be considered along with other MERP recipients for the annual award which is a two-night stay in any one of the three Florida Salamander Resorts. Next time you see Mark, take time to congratulate him for the award he has received. Although only one employee receives this monthly award, all of the employees nominated receive peer and management recognition at special employee breakfasts throughout the year. Be sure to submit your MERP ballot (available on-line and all outlets) to keep the recognition going.

OCTOBER TENNIS

Darn Wind

gath erings | 18

The wind for a tennis player can be a very daunting idea. It can make a good player bad or even a bad player good. The best way to look at it is that the wind is an equalizer. With the wind being somewhat of a common occurrence, depending on where you live, you really need to know how to play in it. This may sound silly, but the first thing you need to know about playing in the wind is actually which way it is blowing. The direction of the wind determines the style of player that you need to be while on that specific side of the court.

When the wind is in your face you need to be more aggressive with your hitting, but not too much with your movement. By doing this with the wind in your face, you first allow yourself to hit the ball harder, keeping more balls in, but you can also use it to show off your touch with a drop shot. The wind will act as a wall pushing the ball down and into the ground. When the wind is on your back, you need to slice more but all the while attacking with forward movement. The wind makes it tough for your opponents to pass you and almost even tougher to lob.

If you start off with these basic ideas of how to play in the wind, you won’t find yourself saying… that “darn wind.”
