Managing Director’s Corner
It’s hard to believe we are half way through 2015! Many of you have heard news regarding changes with Reunion Resort & Club and Wyndham. Reunion Resort & Club will no longer be affiliated with the Wyndham Grand Hotel Collection. This is a change in name only and does not alter the day-to-day management of the property, which has been provided by Salamander Hotels & Resorts since 2011. Nor does the change impact your membership or amenities. Wyndham will still retain its separate, timeshare-based Wyndham Vacation Ownership program at Reunion, while all reservations booked through Wyndham’s reservations system will be honored. Reunion remains part of Salamander’s growing portfolio, which includes three other resorts in Florida: Innisbrook in Tampa Bay, Reunion, Hammock Beach in Palm Coast and The Henderson in Destin – opening in summer 2016; as well as the highly acclaimed Salamander Resort and Spa in Middelburg, VA. We will be phasing out the Wyndham Grand signage and logos from our grounds and collateral over the course of the next few weeks. As always, if you have any questions, please contact your membership office.
Sincerely,
CARLTON W. GRANT, CHA

Dealing with the Sun If you have been playing tennis for even just a little while, then you have had to deal with one of the biggest challenges of playing… the sun. The sun can affect many different parts of your tennis game, the two biggest are your serve and overheads.
won’t be able to plan ahead exactly where you will need to be tossing the ball in an hour or two. It is all about planning ahead, you won’t be able to take practice hits of your serve once you are in the match.
We will discuss a couple of minor adjustments that you can make in order to make dealing with the sun a little easier.
The easiest thing to do, if it is hit high enough, is to let the lob bounce. By letting it bounce you not only change the ball placement in relation to your body, but you also give yourself more time. Time is your best friend with overheads.
First thing you want to try in warm ups is to see where the sun currently is and also where it is traveling. Most people try their serve out and realize that the sun is right in their view; so they adjust slightly for that current time. If you don’t know where the sun is heading throughout your match, then you
The second place to adjust with the sun is for your overheads. This can be even more challenging than the serves as you are not the one tossing the ball up, and also this shot happens with a blink of an eye so you have to be extra ready with your plan.
Come and join our singles tennis ladder if you are not already participating. To sign up or for more information, contact the Tennis Pro Shop at 407.662.1630 or tennis@reunionresort.com.
