GRAND REPUBLICANS INTEREST GROUP

Our well-attended September General Meeting featured Mr. Loren Spivack, Economist and selfproclaimed “Free Market Warrior.” He titled his presentation “Why we Fight - Understanding the Modern Left - what they really want.” He combines education, information and humor in explaining the perils and dangers of today’s Left. He paraphrased the late Supreme Court Justice Anton Scalia: “Socialism promises everything and delivers nothing; Capitalism promises nothing, (except ‘if you don’t work, you don’t eat,’) but has delivered the greatest standard of living the world has ever seen.” The October 15 General Meeting featured popular conservative radio host and accomplished speaker, Mr. Seth Leibsohn. Co-author, along with William J Bennett, of “The Fight of Our Lives,” Leibsohn used two different sources to help explain how our country has gone down the path it has gone. The first was from a fourpoint Epoch Times article “How to Change a Government.” The second is from Saul Alinsky’s twelve-point “Rules for Radicals.” The bottom line: “We need to wake up, grow up, and get ready for the fight of our lives!” In place of a General Meeting in November the Club is having a catered post-election Veteran’s Day bar-b-que at the Grand Pavilion. Our special guest speaker is none other than General “Mick” McGuire! For our December 17 meeting, we are very excited to present Mr. Shane Krauser. He is billed as arguably the most dynamic speaker and educator on liberty and the U.S. Constitution. A trial attorney for 14 years, both as prosecutor and criminal defense attorney, Krauser has taught Constitutional Law for over 15 years at two different Arizona colleges. If there was ever a time to defend our liberty and the Constitution, it is now! We plan to meet every month during 2023 and 2024, including the summer months, as campaigns begin and events unfold leading up to the 2024 presidential election. Please watch our website, grandrepublicans.com for more detail. While there, click on the “about” tab and read our Vision, Mission and Values statements. We may be just the group you are looking for! You are also encouraged to click on the Liberty Ladies tab to see and appreciate how they are serving the cause of conservatism in our communities. Our General Meetings will continue to take place on the third Saturday morning each month at Church on the Green, 19051 R H Johnson Blvd in Sun City West.

SOUND & LIGHTING

The SCG Drama & Comedy Club and the Music Club provides quality theater and musical events throughout the year to our community. We are fortunate to have many talented residents who volunteer their time and talents and spend many hours of rehearsal to ensure top entertainment for you! And no commute or parking fees! One of the many things the two clubs have in common in presenting this outstanding live entertainment is sharing the talents of our volunteer Sound and Lighting teams. The teams are often pressed to do shows back-to-back, which puts a demand on this skill set. As the Drama Club and Music Club prepare for a full 2022-2023 season, we are looking for persons who may have an interest in sharing their talents or learn new skills involving these areas. No prior experience or knowledge of sound or lighting equipment is needed. We have volunteers who will train anyone who is interested. Many hands make light work. No pun intended – it is light work! And sound work! But many persons sharing makes easier work. Here is your opportunity to become a member of Sun City Grand’s entertainment community. Give it a try, you may discover not only a new interest, but you will be sure to make some great new friends. For more information, please contact Ove Jakobsen at 256-721-0431 or ovejakobsen@ msn.com for sound or Bob Nix at 623-214-8280 or bobnix@cox.net for lighting. You will not be on your own, you will be a valuable member of the team who will help you learn a new skill. As any actor or musical performer will attest, your valuable skills create the magic of live performances. You’ve seen it, how about helping make it happen!
