Media Partners and Supporters
Welcoming and Friendly... A word from our General Manager... I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support of the Grand Theatre during this economic recession. You may have noticed that we have revised our booking fee policy and I thought it worthwhile explaining why we have done this. The Grand Theatre, a grade 2* listed building, costs £17,000 per week to operate, a figure low in comparison to many other comparable theatres. Touring productions, be they small, medium or large scale are very expensive to present for the producer and the venue and every effort is made to keep ticket pricing at an affordable level, however touring costs have increased significantly. We strive to offer quality product and a number of Big Name ‘West End’ productions with celebrity casting at a price that in many instances is a third of their London price. In order to offer you these shows, we often have to work on a percentage deal with a producer and the theatre is only able to retain the smallest of those percentages due to the producer’s overheads. Many ask, if there has to be an extra charge, why we do not simply increase ticket prices rather than charge a booking fee? Due to the percentage deals, any increase in ticket pricing would still see the majority of the money passed to the producer, and would not alleviate the situation of the Grand’s running costs. With a booking fee we are able to retain that income. This is why many theatres have been forced into the position of charging a booking fee. This income makes a significant contribution to the theatre’s costs, and the revised charges are, we believe, fairer and below local and regional comparators. If you purchase tickets either with cash or by debit card at the Box Office, you will not incur a booking fee. I hope this is a helpful clarification of our policy.

Vampires Rock
Monday 29 October at 7.30pm Steve Steinman plays the supremely evil Baron Von Rockula in this classic rock spectacular! All teamed with an amazing stage set and pyrotechnics to blow your mind, this rock extravaganza is not to be missed! Tickets £16.00, £18.00, £20.00
Monday 22 October at 8.00pm With a wink to Charles Bukowski’s cult character Henry Chinaski, choreographer Kylie Walters coaxes seven testosterone-crazed men to live through an evening of debauchery and revelation. Trapped in a rock-band’s home studio as they try to finish their new album, this live concert/show collides virtuoso Belgian rock duo I Love Sarah’s (Jeroen Stevens/Rutger De Brabander) scorching math rock with five superb Scottish performers (David Hughes Dance) amongst copious amounts of bravaderie and chaos. Low-fi beginnings become hi-fi horrors as the fine line between recognizable every day reality and bizarre fictive world is trampled. Vicious drumming, cutting wit and cunning moves form a microcosm of manhood stretching from juvenile misbehaviour to sublime creative insight.
