TOLASTCHANCE BOOK!

With a new dramatic prologue and chamber orchestration by Michael Betteridge. Performed by an internationally recognised cast alongside Manchester’s acclaimed LGBTQ+ chorus The Sunday Boys.

A man haunted by the ghosts of his past, finds himself drawn back to his family home and the memory of a great loss.

Partnered with a new dramatic prologue, The Last Bit of the Moon, Riders to the Sea tells the story of a family, Maurya, Bartley, Kathleen and Nora and a seemingly inevitable chain of events.

Combining projection, recorded sound and live performance, this is musical storytelling at its most visceral. The show is captioned throughout as part of the production design.

AGE: 12+ References to trauma and grief.

Here at Blackpool Grand, we’re thrilled to be co-producing some of this season’s most anticipated new shows: Little Women with leading West End producer Lee Dean, starring Belinda Lang and Honeysuckle Weeks and, coming in June, a major new production of the hit musical Grease with Scotland’s Pitlochry Festival Theatre. Then in August, our Summer Youth Musical returns with The Wind In The Willows featuring talented local performers aged 9-19.

Together with the best in touring drama, musicals, comedy, and dance, including the return of London City Ballet, there’s something to excite everyone at The Grand this year.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

J B PRIESTLEY’S CLASSIC THRILLER

AN INSPECTOR CALLS

Stephen Daldry’s multi-award-winning National Theatre production of JB Priestley’s classic thriller An Inspector Calls returns after a record-breaking, sell-out tour in 2022. Winner of 19 major awards and hailed as the theatrical event of its generation, An Inspector Calls has thrilled more than 5 million theatregoers worldwide.

When Inspector Goole arrives unexpectedly at the prosperous Birling family home, their peaceful dinner party is shattered by his investigations into the death of a young woman. His startling revelations shake the very foundations of their lives and challenge us all to examine our consciences. More relevant now than ever, this is a must-see for a whole new generation.

80s Liverpool. Chrissie, Loggo, George, Dixie and Yosser are used to hard work and providing for their families. But there is no work and there is no money. What are they supposed to do? Work harder, work longer, buy cheaper, spend less? They just need a chance.

Life is tough but the lads can play the game. Find jobs, avoid the ‘sniffers’ and see if you can have a laugh along the way.

Anne-Marie Casey’s masterful new adaptation of Little Women breathes new life into one of the best loved novels of all time.

Step into the world of sisterhood, courage and ambition, as the March sisters - tomboy Jo, beautiful Meg, sensitive Beth, and spoilt Amy - navigate the challenges of the Civil War era, forging unbreakable bonds of love and family.

Little Women stars Belinda Lang (2point4 Children, Sister Boniface Mysteries), Honeysuckle Weeks (Foyles War, Calendar Girls the Musical), Jack Ashton (Call the Midwife, The Archers) and Grace Molony (Country Girls, The Great). With Cillian Lenaghan (The Woman in the Wall); Jade Kennedy (Rebus: A Game Called Malice); Catherine Chalk (Hilma) and Imogen Elliott (Grantchester).

The recent success of the Greta Gerwig film and the nostalgia of the classic book, combined with a beautiful adaptation, provides an exciting theatrical experience guaranteed to be a night (or afternoon!) filled with laughter, tears, and a heart-warming lifting of the spirits.

"Mina Anwar is excellent"

Transport yourself to sunny Greece with this beloved comedy! Mina Anwar reprises her role in Willy Russell’s heartwarming play, set in Lancashire.

Housewife Shirley feels trapped and frustrated now that her kids have left home. While making egg and chips for her husband, she questions her life choices.

When the chance for a holiday in Greece arises, she seizes it, leaving a note on the kitchen table as she heads to the sun to rediscover herself.

From the writer of Blood Brothers and Educating Rita, this critically acclaimed romantic comedy was also an Oscar-nominated film featuring Pauline Collins and Tom Conti.

Handbagged – Moira Buffini’s unmissable and fiercely funny comedy.

The Queen and her most powerful subject, behind closed doors.

Moira Buffini’s clever and fiercely funny comedy is a fly-on-the-wall look at what might have happened when Queen Elizabeth II and Margaret Thatcher came face-to-face in the privacy of the palace.

Over the course of a decade did the Monarch and the Iron Lady ever find a common ground, or did their stiff upper lips reign supreme?

This highly entertaining Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch and Theatre Nation Partnerships production explores the intense relationship between two of history’s most revered female leaders, and the legacy they each left behind.

Today is going to be a good day. And here’s why…

Packed with some of the biggest musical theatre songs of the last decade, DEAR EVAN HANSEN has a score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Oscar-winning composers for The Greatest Showman), book by Steven Levenson. With direction by Adam Penford (Artistic Director at Nottingham Playhouse), this will be the first time that the Broadway and West End phenomenon has toured the UK, with this brand-new production.

Grease The Musical – Step into the electrifying world of 1950s Rydell High School and follow the whirlwind romance between new girl Sandy Dumbrowski and popular guy Danny Zuko, who find their summer love challenged by the pressures of teenage life.

Bursting with a vibrant, dynamic, and talented company that captures the essence of teenage exuberance, rebellion and young love; this new version of the timeless classic is told with grit and verve capturing the idealism of the fifties, their dreams, desires and journeys of self-discovery.

Despite protests of his innocence, Andy Dufresne is handed a double life sentence for the brutal murders of his wife and her lover. Incarcerated in the notorious Shawshank facility, he quickly learns that no one can survive alone.

Andy strikes up an unlikely friendship with the prison fixer Red, and things start to take a slight turn for the better. However, when Warden Stammas decides to bully Andy into subservience and exploit his talents for accountancy, a desperate plan is quietly hatched…

Based on Stephen King’s 1982 novella this thrilling stage production examines friendship and hope behind the claustrophobic bars of a maximum-security facility. The 1984 feature film was nominated for seven Academy Awards.
