Set in 1942, against a backdrop of heartache and quiet bravery, Flare Path paints an evocative portrait of life in wartime Britain for the RAF bomber crews, their wives and sweethearts, who were left awaiting their return. RAF pilot Teddy and his wife, former actress Patricia, have their marriage tested to the limit by the surprise arrival of her ex-lover Peter Kyle. Highly charged drama with a truly authentic taste of the fear, camaraderie and passion combine when an unexpected and dangerous mission over Germany puts Patricia at the centre of an emotional conflict as unpredictable as the war in the skies.

DRAMA The Touring Consortium Theatre Company presents a Touring Consortium Theatre Company and Birmingham Repertory Theatre production
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
Guys like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world. They got no family. They don’t belong no place…with us it ain’t like that. We got a future. We got somebody to talk to that gives a damn about us. Set in America during the Great Depression, this classic play tells the story of George and Lennie, two migrant farm workers, who go in search of new beginnings, in the hope of attaining their shared dream: of putting together enough money to buy a small piece of land and building a home. After a long and exhausting journey, the pair arrive at a farm in California where they seek work. But they are no strangers to trouble and soon find themselves reeling from the fall out of an innocent misunderstanding which spirals out of control and leaves the two men, bound together by friendship, facing an earth-shattering climax. John Steinbeck is one of the greatest storytellers of the twentieth century and Of Mice and Men remains one of the most poignant statements of being human our contemporary theatre has produced. Iphigénie en Tauride
FRI 13 & SAT 14 MAY
By Christoph Wilibald Gluck
Vampire-like villains and human sacrifice form a bloodthirsty backdrop to what is one of the most refined and perfect of operas, based on a famous story from Greek myth. By a composer who influenced future generations from Mozart to Wagner, this account of the reunion of Iphigénia and her brother in the aftermath of the Trojan War is an eloquent, heart-wrenching masterpiece. Sung in French with English surtitles.
Don Giovanni By Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Larger than life in many ways, the darkest of comedies and the sexiest of cautionary tales, Don Giovanni is an opera that must be seen, heard, and talked about, over and over again. Is Don Giovanni a hero who defies all authority – or a murderous villain? Whichever way you are pulled, Mozart’s masterpiece is a musical and dramatic whirlwind, here presented in a new production set in imperial Vienna.

A new Mel Brooks Musical
Based on the much loved Academy Award-winning movie, The Producers is a hilarious musical comedy that has taken Broadway and the West End by storm, and now it's coming to wow audiences in Blackpool. Impoverished by a string of flops, New York theatrical producer Max Bialystock recruits timid accountant Leo Bloom to help him pull off Broadway’s greatest scam. They aim to produce the worst show ever, that has the worst script, with the worst producer and starring the worst cast, and run away with millions. With a sure-fire recipe for disaster, how can they possibly fail? They soon learn that show business can kick you in the teeth. This musical features a riotous mix of eccentric characters (including tap dancing grannies and talented pigeons) and show stopping songs, including the all-time classic, Springtime For Hitler as well as I Want To Be A Producer and When You've Got It, Flaunt It. TUES 19 to SAT 23 APR
Evenings 7:30pm, Weds & Sat Matinees 2pm
Once there was a time with no mobiles, no online dating and no Facebook, when teenage girls waited with bated breath by the letterbox for their weekly issue of Jackie magazine. In Jackie The Musical we revisit those heady days, and tell the story of a recent divorcée who seeks advice once more from the pages of her old Jackie annuals. The quizzes, the fashion tips, the ‘do’s and dont's on first date’ and above all the Cathy and Claire problem pages are all eagerly devoured by our plucky heroine as she revisits the dizzy world of the teen bible. With her ex and a handsome new guy in tow, the valuable lessons she learnt as a girl begin to influence her future and Jackie discovers the one person in control of her life is... her. Starring Janet Dibley (The Two of Us, EastEnders, Fat Friends), Olivier Award nominee Graham Bickley (Ragtime) and Nicholas Bailey (EastEnders), Jackie The Musical is accompanied by a pulsating sound track of classic 70s hits. Thrill once more to the unmistakable sounds of pop idols Donny Osmond, David Cassidy, Marc Bolan and many more. This fun and feisty night out is a must see.

The Lancashire Hotpots Now’t Like The 80s Tour
Do you remember the 80's? A decade of Rubik's Cubes, shoulder pads and Walkmans. The Lancashire Hotpots do and they're back to bring you a show full of music and comedy that's as daft as a Sinclair C5! Expect all your usual favourites including Chippy Tea and I Fear Ikea as well as some 1980's styled musical fun. From Glastonbury festival to writing jingles for Holland's Pies The Lancashire Hotpots have been entertaining the nation since 2007 with comedy songs about chippy teas, shopmobility scooters as well as how to smuggle your own sweets into the cinema. With congas, puppets and unscripted hilarity on the menu at each and every Hotpots gig, join Bernard, Bob, Kenny, Billy and Dickie for a rambunctious night of good time, singalonga fun. ‘Masters of Parody.’ THE GUARDIAN

The Grand Theatre is delighted to announce a new programme of events taking place in our improved studio space, including children’s shows, comedy and drama, thanks to the generous support of LeftCoast.
Damion brings you comedians from all the major TV panel shows and roadshows, plus the best of the rest. Previously he’s booked Jason Manford, John Bishop and Sarah Millican before they hit the big time. So come and see more brilliant comedians!
Inspired by the true story of a young offender from Glasgow who had committed a violent crime, a hardhitting play about getting bullied, fighting back, trying to make a name for yourself, turning vicious, doing something stupid, losing everything, then finding your way again.
Level 3 Extended Diploma Performing Arts and Art & Design Students will be presenting their debut performance; Elements in TheSTUDIO at The Grand. It’s going to be an exciting and inspiring mix of Performance and Visual Art that promises to be both entertaining and thought provoking. TUES 8 MAR Tickets £6 Time 7pm

I have not been to an Audio Described show since I was a child and it has been great to watch a show without a friend or a family member having to explain what is going on. After this experience I now feel confident to take my niece to a show by myself because you have been so helpful. Audience member
DISABLED If you are disabled and cannot attend the theatre without a companion we will offer a guest ticket for your companion to sit with you.
TOUCH TOURS Before an Audio Described performance, we are sometimes able to offer Touch Tours to help you immerse yourself in the show (subject to visiting company approval) enabling you to explore the stage and get a feel of the set. Please ask about availability when booking your ticket for an Audio Described performance. WHEELCHAIR ACCESS As part of recent development work we have installed a lift to take wheelchairs from the foyer to the stalls. This was generously funded by SITA Trust. Please advise Box Office when booking your ticket that you require a wheelchair space. Lift access is no longer available to the dress circle.
Our Audio Described performances give you a live commentary about the action happening on stage through a pair of headphones. Like a narrator telling a story, a trained describer will tell you about the things you might not be able to see, describing body language, expressions and movements, so that you can keep up with the action. There is a live introduction, which will tell you about the characters, their costumes and the appearance of the set 15 minutes before the start of the show. I would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make Hairspray a positive experience for me and my friend who are both visually impaired. You were great from booking the tickets and explaining the seating and Audio Description. Taking care of the little things that people with visual impairments would worry about when going to a show e.g. finding your seat, getting a drink, finding the toilets etc.
ASSISTANCE DOGS Recognised Assistance Dogs are welcome. A “Recognised Assistance Dog” is one which has been specifically trained to assist a disabled person and that has been qualified by one of the charitable organisations registered as members of Assistance Dogs UK. Assistance Dogs trained by members of Assistance Dogs UK will have formal identification and have been endorsed by the Department of Health, on the basis that the dog’s high standards of training, behaviour, health and welfare are such that it should be permitted to accompany its client, owner, or partner, at all times and in all places.
AUDIO DESCRIPTION If you are blind or partially sighted, we don’t want you to miss out on anything that happens in the show.
