Welcome to my first season at the helm of Blackpool’s Grand Theatre! We’re bringing on back the good times! with West End and Broadway five-star smash hit musicals Dreamboats & Petticoats, Beautiful – The Carole King Musical, and the return of Richard O’Brien’s legendary rock ‘n’ roll musical The Rocky Horror Show. We’re set for a great new season here in Blackpool with a ‘Summer of Sound’, with music from the greats like Showaddywaddy (Under The Moon of Love), celebrating A Country Night In Nashville, and A Spectacular Night of Queen! For families and our younger audiences, we’ve something magical with Pop Princesses. For late Summer, we’re thrilled to open the national tour of the chilling new ghost story When Darkness Falls and, later this year, welcome Ian Hislop and Nick Newman’s absurdly funny SPIKE celebrating the comedy genius of Spike Milligan and ‘The Goons’. The Studio re-launches with two acclaimed productions marking the 50th Anniversary of Pride including Riot Act a journey through six-decades of queer history, and The MP, Aunty Mandy & Me, exploring power and manipulation through a queer voice from the #MeToo movement. Blackpool Grand’s work extends well beyond our stage and I’m incredibly proud of the work we deliver within our community inspiring creativity and contributing to Blackpool’s Resilience Revolution. As I write, members of our community cast are preparing to make their stage debuts with Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon. To find out more about all of our work, visit our website, follow us on social media or check out our new podcast: Eat. THEATRE. Sleep. Repeat. Anthony Stone, Chair of Blackpool Grand Theatre, said ‘I’m delighted with the programme this season, an eclectic mix of shows that I know will appeal to many in our community. Seeing the volume of West End and Broadway musicals returning to the stage with tickets at accessible pricing is delightful. I’m extremely happy to see such a diverse programme, including the return of The Studio'. I look forward to welcoming you to The Grand this Summer.
