PASSION LIVING IN A MAGIC FOREST OUT OF (SOUTH) AFRICA
PASSION Solo exhibition by Sonya; inspired by a love of all art and creation, from the world of holistic health and spirituality and a passionate curiosity in people. I qualified from the University of the West of England with a BA (Hons) in Ceramics in 1995. This course immersed me in the wonderful world of texture and form, working 3 dimensionally with clay and it also meant I gained a steady grounding in the techniques and principles of good craftsmanship; how to develop an idea from inspiration into reality with professionalism and finesse. The valuable lessons I learnt then, carry through into my current work and life ethic. I know my strengths, and like to challenge my weaknesses. My lust for creativity and exploration spurs my work and my appetite to learn supports my works evolution. My aim is to enrich and enlighten people’s lives with what I produce, not just because visually it brings enjoyment but because it touches a part of their Soul. I call my work ‘Emotive Art’ for this reason. It awakens our emotions and touches a part of us we sometimes lose..hopefully to find once again. My inspiration is born from a love of all art and creation, from the world of holistic health and spirituality and a passionate curiosity in people. With age and hopefully some wisdom on my side the threads of time have given me the sight and inspiration for my most recent mission ‘Emotive Art’. My first genre for this movement of art is ‘Passion’ something hopefully we have all touched or experienced during our lives and no doubt an expression we might all wish to feel more often! I hope you enjoy using my paintings as a conduit to help you re-identify with this emotion through the images of seductive salsa dancers. They form a story; One I think you may remember, but I’ll let you work that bit out for yourselves. www.sonya.gallery
LIVING IN A MAGIC FOREST Mixed media exhibition by William Duncan and Alex Rezende. William Duncan uses oil and acrylic in his paintings. Alex Rezende works with digital media and collage. William and Alex often work together on some pieces, using a range of recycled materials. The artwork, which we are showing, is influenced by the experience of living in Paraty, a small, historical town in the area of the Atlantic rainforest of Rio de Janeiro state in Brazil. William enjoys working with bold colours, which are inspired by the lush vegetation and light of his surroundings. William and Alex use a type of fruit called coite, which is similar to a gourd. This is used as a base for our work with masks, which form part of our exhibition.
OUT OF (SOUTH) AFRICA Solo exhibition Bronwen Grover.

One of my greatest pleasures is drawing. Another is seeing wildlife in its natural habitat. So, drawing the wildlife out of Africa was truly awesome. I came back from a safari holiday last September with a full sketch book and a ridiculous number of photographs. Working from all that information, I have created a show of etchings and drypoint prints. Oh, and in case you’re wondering about me; I’ve worked as a set designer in theatre and television and as an Art Therapist in Acute Mental Health. But printmaking is much more fun!
