which includes portions of Tarrant and Dallas Counties. He served three terms in the Texas House of Representatives where he advocated for core conservative values of limited government, lower taxes and strong family values. Throughout his legislative career, Senator Hancock, a graduate of Baylor University with a degree in Business, has worked to pass voter identification legislation, prolife legislation, eminent domain legislation, immigration reform legislation and state sovereignty legislation. Senator Hancock and his wife, Robin, have been married 26 years and have three children: Chloe, Skylar and Harrison. Representative Capriglione has been married for 11 years to his wife Elisa and has three children. After receiving his bachelors of

Happy New Year! Continued from page 1 The Chamber cannot be successful without people like you, and for that, I thank you. For those that have not had a chance to participate in the Chamber, I strongly encourage you to do so. There are so many opportunities to promote your business and, at the same time, meet some great people. Just find something the Chamber is doing that interests you and jump in! You won’t be disappointed. Remember, people like doing business with people they know. 2015 has just started, but the Chamber’s Board of Directors and staff has been working diligently on the planning for the year. Later this month we will finalize those 2015 goals at our Strategic Planning Meeting. The Chairman and Board of Directors have continued to raise the bar each year, and with your help, we hope to do the same in 2015. Thanks again for allowing me to be your 2015 Chairman, and I hope to see you at an upcoming Chamber event!

Board of Directors Strategic Planning Retreat, Jan. 27

Your Grapevine Chamber Board of Directors will be holding its annual Strategic Planning Retreat, Tuesday, January 27. This meeting helps shape the goals and future of our organization, and we appreciate the time our volunteer Board of Directors spends considering the best practices for our Chamber. With the formation of the Grapevine Legislative Council and voter’s resource website www. The Women’s Division Celebrating 50 Years!

The Women’s Division of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce will be celebrating 50 years of serving the Grapevine community in 2015. Their mission, “Women helping our community thrive so business can succeed,” continues, and I am humbled to be the Chair this year, with so many hard working Past Chairs in our history. Back in 1965 three women, Cecelia Box, Mary Lou Dieterich and Betty Yance, started what has been a long tradition of helping those in need and serving the community of Grapevine. All the women who have been part of the Women’s Division enjoy the opportunity to give back, even after a hard day of work. I don’t see them talking about the daily frustrations of work, just a calm attitude to get done what needs to be done for the betterment of Grapevine. 2015’s theme of “Keep Calm and Serve On” is quite fitting for this group of business and community women.

This past December we finished one of our rewarding projects. Women of the Women’s Division and community members purchased and distributed Christmas wishes from our Christmas Spirit Tree. The senior clients of GRACE can hardly contain themselves as we arrive to give those presents and household necessities. I have always loved being part of this Women’s Division tradition each year. Whether it is fundraising or working on our annual projects these women get it done. Speaking of fundraising, I encourage you to put Thursday April 9, 2015, on your calendar for our Great Taste of Grapevine event at Embassy Suites - Outdoor World. Those who come can’t get enough of the great food from more than 25 Grapevine restaurants! I looking forward to getting to know you this year. Come out and join us at our first luncheon of the year on Tuesday January 20, 2015, on the third floor of Stacy’s Furniture & Design. 11:30a.m. – 1 p.m. Cost is $20. You can RSVP online or contact Karen Deakin at karendeakin@sbcglobal.net or (817) 300-5902. 2015 is going to be a great year for the Women’s Division, and I’m excited to add to tradition of those who have served over the last 50 years. Please contact me with any questions or how to get involved with our great group of women. My email is coplen2@gmail.com and phone (817) 300-8351. See you on the January 20!
