Must Be Present to Win! Those present at the September Membership Luncheon saw the “Must Be Present to Win” Drawing continue its climb, with Ladonna Hill from A Cup Above Coffee Service not in attendance. The prize is now up to $650 for October. Each month at the Chamber’s Membership Luncheon, the drawing grows as long as the person whose name is called is not in attendance. To win, all you have to do is show up and hear your name be called! How easy is that? All Chamber members are eligible to win, thanks to the sponsorship from First Financial Bank, NA.

Community Notes Honorary Co-Chairs for NE Tarrant County Walk to End Alzheimer’s Share Their Story Twin sisters, Sarah and Becca Duncan, 23, of Grapevine knew that their father with Alzheimer’s disease, Scott Duncan, 80, may not be alive for their future wedding, so they decided to capture a special moment with their father in their wedding dresses before it was lost forever. Scott Duncan was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2013. After hearing the shocking news, the Duncan family sought advice from the Alzheimer’s Association – North Central Texas Chapter and started attending their Friday group, a program for those with early-stage Alzheimer’s. To regain a sense of control after their father’s diagnosis, Becca Duncan said she and her sister decided to start a team for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Northeast Tarrant County. This year will mark their third Walk and first year as Walk honorary co-chairs. The NE Tarrant County Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be Saturday, October 8, at the Church of Cross in Grapevine. Thank You for Support at GrapeFest! September has been a busy month for the Grapevine Women’s Division! We’re planning for our newest fundraiser, Elves on the Run, which will be at Oak Grove Park on Saturday, December 3. The Women’s Division also staffed the beer booths again on Thursday and Friday for Grapefest. Thank you to our Vice Chair of Ways & Means, Emily McRoberts, for her leadership and effort to fill the shifts for the beer booths, and thanks to our many members, their families, friends and co-workers, along with many other Grapevine Chamber of Commerce members for assisting the Women’s Division in the effort. The funds generated from this community activity will be used to provide additional resources for our two main service projects, school supplies and Christmas Spirit for disadvantaged area senior citizens. Thank you to GRACE and Shonda Schaefer for being our September luncheon sponsor and providing a fashion show, using clothes from the Style & Grace Resale shop. The show as organized by store manager Jana McGlone. We are looking forward to our annual Women’s Division Chili Cook-Off, which will be held Tuesday October 18, at Homestead Winery at 5:30 pm. Emily McRoberts will be our sponsor for this meeting. The next day we will be interviewing senior clients of GRACE who have been waiting patiently for our members to come and get their list of wishes for our annual Christmas Spirit program. Our motto this year is “Helping our Community with Love & Hard Work it’s Worth it!” This is what our members of the Women’s Division do in our community. If you have questions about the Women’s Division of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce, please let me know.

Congratulations to former Grapevine City Councilman Roy Stewart on his retirement from Northstar Bank! Roy has been a Grapevine Chamber for over 30 years!
