Learn a Revolutionary Approach to Customer Service at the Chamber Luncheon, Nov. 13 T h e Grapevine Chamber of Commerce is proud to have global leader, facilitator and trainer, Kent Hutchison speak at the upcoming Membership Luncheon, 11:30 a.m., Nov. 13, on the topic of Creating Raving Fans, A Revolutionary Approach to Customer Service. The luncheon is sponsored by Wells Fargo and catered by Brio Tuscan Grille.

Successful organizations have one common central focus: customers. It does not matter if it is a restaurant, accounting firm, or tire store, success comes to those, only those, who are obsessed with looking after customers. This wisdom is not a secret. Mission statements, annual reports, posters on the wall, seminars, and even television programs all proclaim the supremacy of customers. Join us to look at this important, complex subject, peeled back

to set of fundamental truths in a simple, understandable, and enjoyable form. Kent has more than 22 years of experience working in employee development and training. He is a senior consultant with C.J. Baxter Group, an employee development firm based in Nacogdoches. He has worked as cluster facilitator at the nationally recognized LeaderShape Institute, and he regularly Continued on page 3

Transitioning to a New Year Wow. Can you believe it is November? This has been an interesting year for me, and still I am surprised that I only have two months remaining to serve as your Chairman! As your Board of Directors continues to work on several of their goals for our organization, we are also looking toward 2015. Your new members of the Board of Directors have

been approved, a Strategic Planning meeting for the Board is being scheduled and events for next year are being added to the calendar. As we all begin to transition into a new year, I encourage you to do the following: • In this newsletter, the Chamber has started to solicit nominations for the Annual Grapevine Community Awards. Take some time and think about those in our community

who deserve recognition. Many people are behind the scenes doing great things, but we can’t recognize them if you don’t nominate them! • Take a look at your budget and consider several of the sponsorships that are a part of the marketing opportunities provided by our Chamber. You Can’t Complain if You Don’t Vote! The November 4th election is very soon, and if recent elections are any indication, voter apathy threatens to put local initiatives and campaigns in the hands of very few voters, some of which are uninformed on the critical issues facing Grapevine. Due to the excessively low turnout in the 2014 spring elections, the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce is embarking on a voter engagement campaign along with other Chambers throughout the State of Texas. Our goal is to encourage local employers to help inform and educate employees on issues important to their business interests and motivate them to vote. Some of the motivational tools could be giving employees an extra hour at lunch or letting them off work an hour early for early voting. Your Grapevine Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has moved to support Proposition 1 on the ballot. To learn more about this proposition, visit www. MoveTexasForward.com. Please help us better engage voters in the future of this region and state by sharing this information with your friends, family, employees and co-workers. Remind everyone that you can’t complain if you don’t vote!

WIN MONEY for Attending the Luncheon!

Those in attendance at the October Membership Luncheon saw the “Must Be Present to Win” Drawing continue its climb to $1,850. Each month at the Chamber’s Membership Luncheon, the drawing grows as long as the person whose name is called is not in attendance. All you have to do is show up! How easy is that? All Chamber members’ names are in the drawing, sponsored by the First Financial Bank, NA. Cash in on your membership investment by attending the monthly luncheon for your chance to win! www.grapevinechamber.org N O V E M B E R 2014 l 3
