Welcome David Vobora, Founder of Adaptive Training Foundation, November 17 Your 2017 Board The Grapevine Chamber of Commerce is proud to have David Vobora, Founder of Adaptive Training Foundation, speak at the next Membership Luncheon, November 17, at the Grapevine Convention Center, sponsored by First Bank Texas and catered by Marcona Kitchen. David Vobora is a five-year veteran of the NFL. He was “Mr. Irrelevant” (the last pick) in the 2008 NFL Draft. Rather than being discouraged, he relished the opportunity to prove doubters wrong – just as he had as an Idaho Vandal standout football player for four years. Upon retiring from the NFL, David opened Performance Vault, a for-profit gym that offers individual and customized performance training to elite athletes. David met Travis Mills in January of 2014. Travis is a retired United States Army Staff Sergeant and quadruple amputee. The two began working out together, and the unique challenges that Travis’ injuries posed in the gym ignited a passion for David to offer adaptive performance training to individuals who have suffered life-altering injuries.
By working with Travis and many other critically injured veterans, David recognized a void in the recovery process. When a person gets injured, they are treated at the hospital and go through rehabilitation, but where do they go to continue their recovery while defining the recalibrated-self? ATF fills this void. Adaptive Training Foundation was established to restore hope through movement to those with physical impairment by creating opportunities for adaptive athletes to train and compete. ATF is not rehab. ATF is designed to provide quality, individual and customized training that will help each athlete create a sustainable lifestyle change. In September 2014, the Adaptive Training Foundation became a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, to allow outside support for these ambitious participants. The program now offers a nineweek intensive training to restore, recalibrate and redeploy these athletes to inspire others to achieve the impossible. Make plans to attend the luncheon at the Grapevine Convention Center, located at 1209 S. Main St. (at the corner of Continued on page 2

Preparing for the Holiday Season
As we prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday, I would like to thank each of our members for all their support this year to promote the Women’s Division through volunteerism in the community, supporting our fundraising efforts, serving on various committees and participating in important activities that promote business and our community. Our membership has grown, and for that, we are all truly grateful. Thank you to Emily McRoberts of Homestead Winery for being our October Chili Cook Off sponsor and host, and thank you to Traci Coy, Emily McRoberts, Casey Hege, Terri Hammond, Leslie Rigoulout and Stacie Barberie for preparing their chili recipes. Emily McRoberts recipe won the Women’s Division Chili Cook Off, with Casey Hege and Stacie Barberie receiving honorable mention. On October 19, we spent the morning interviewing senior clients of GRACE, finding out what is on their Christmas wish lists. This is always a popular service our members provide for seniors in our community. Watch for opportunities to adopt a senior in November. Tags will be on a Christmas tree in the Chamber office lobby and at The REC of Grapevine. Join us for our next monthly luncheon, Tuesday, November 15 at 11:45 a.m., at Messina Hof Winery (201 N. Main St.). Register online and come join us! I would like to wish each of you and your families a very Happy Thanksgiving! If you have questions about the Women’s Division of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce, please let me know.
