Thank You Rocky Gribble Performs Mission: Holiday Show at December Luncheon Grapevine
The mission of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce is to promote business that adds value to our community.
•
Vision: The vision of the Grapevine Chamber is a progressive business organization that brings relevant and essential opportunities for our investors and community to grow and prosper.
•
Values: Excellence Innovation Integrity & Community
Donations to GRACE are the Cost of Entry! It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce is proud to have legendary Grapevine musician Rocky Gribble performing at the Chamber’s December Membership Luncheon. Sponsored by Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine and catered by Outback Steakhouse, the luncheon will be Thursday, December 11, at 11:30 a.m., at the Grapevine Convention Center. The cost of entry to this month’s luncheon is at least three (3) canned food items AND a NEW clothing item or toy to donate to GRACE – Grapevine Community Relief and Exchange. If you do not bring BOTH, the typical registration fee of $20 or $25, depending on your registration date, will apply. Early registration is still required for the luncheon. The son of a West Texas cotton farmer, Rocky Gribble’s musical roots began when he first picked up his dad’s guitar at the age of thirteen. Before he turned fourteen, Rocky was making weekly television
appearances on a country music show in Lubbock, Texas. His high school years in Post, Texas were dotted with awards recognizing his talents on the guitar. A Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Southern Nazarene University in 1974 would soon follow as Rocky embarked on a career in his first love. His abilities on the electric lead guitar, acoustic rhythm guitar, nylon string classical guitar, five string banjo and mandolin keep him busy contributing to the music of countless singers and songwriters. Join us for the luncheon at the Grapevine Convention Center, 1209 S. Main St. in Grapevine, at the corner of Vine St. and Municipal Way. Don’t forget to bring at least three (3) canned food items and a NEW clothing item or toy for GRACE. Without a donation, the cost is $20 with a reservation made prior to 5 p.m., Tuesday, December 9, and $25 after. There is a $5 fee for invoicing. Reservations not canceled by 1 p.m., Wednesday, December 10 will be billed. Reservations can be made by contacting the Grapevine Chamber at (817) 481-1522, emailing info@ grapevinechamber.org or visiting the Chamber website’s Events Page.

Chamber!
Each year, Thanksgiving reminds us to thank those who have blessed us this year. At the Grapevine Chamber we are surrounded by a business community who works hard to be successful, but still gives back through their time and financial resources. We are so thankful to be a part of such a giving and caring business organization, from the individual members who move us forward to the Board of Directors who guide us. Great people have provided the vision and goals that continue to bring our businesses together, creating a strong community of opportunity and success. Christmas is a time for each of us to celebrate our God, and it is the season of hope, understanding and love. We are blessed to be in a community that proudly shares in the reason for the season. We see it each day as businesses come by to pick up an ornament from the Christmas Spirit Tree to buy presents for the senior adults Continued on page 2

Thank You Grapevine Chamber! Continued from page 1 in our community, who we celebrate as treasured members of our city and a part of our extended family. We will see it at the December Chamber Luncheon, when business members bring food and a toy or clothing item to share with GRACE. What a wonderful community and Chamber we have in Grapevine. With the New Year just around the corner, now is a time to reflect on what we have each accomplished personally, in our family and in our businesses. We can learn from the challenges we faced, and we can look forward to renewed energy,
focus and enthusiasm for the opportunities that we have to make a difference each day in our lives, our businesses, our community and our world. The staff of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce wants to thank each of you for what you have done, and the ways you touch the lives of others. We also want to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Sincerely, Your Grapevine Chamber Staff

Honored for Commitment to Community, Employees and Industry Baylor University’s Institute for Family Business honored the 2014 Texas Family Business of the Year Award winners and finalists at an awards banquet Nov. 6 at Baylor University’s Bill Daniel Student Center, including Lucas Funeral Homes, who was honored with the Family Values Award. The awards program – now in its 25th year – recognizes outstanding firms whose families demonstrate a commitment to each other and to business continuity, and who are responsive to the needs of their employees, communities and industries. “The Institute for Family Business and Baylor University is privileged to honor great family businesses for the 25th consecutive year,” said Bill Worthington, director of the Institute for Family Business in Baylor’s Hankamer School of Business. “The applicant pool provided stunning examples of the impact that firm, family, and faith can have on individuals, businesses, and the communities they serve.”

A Great Holiday Hoedown!
Oh what fun the Women’s Division Holiday Hoedown was this year! As you may have noticed, we changed a few things in order to spruce up the event! 1. We changed the name from the Ho Ho Hoedown to the Holiday Hoedown! Rolls off the tongue a bit easier, I think, don’t you? 2. We moved it up in order to be the FIRST Holiday event of the year, and boy am I looking forward to a calm Christmas season! 3. We changed the venue from Willhoite’s to Austin Ranch. We are so thankful to Willhoite’s for the three years they were willing to shut down to the public during a very busy time, and open it up for this event. In order to grow the event, we needed to fit more people, and Austin Ranch was the perfect place! Thanks to Steve Haley and his staff for being our Host Sponsor. It was a fantastic evening, with fantastic food, and fantastic service. A HUGE THANKS TO AUSTIN RANCH AT HILTON DFW LAKES! Thanks so much to everyone one who came… if you had a great time, invite your friends to come next year! We have already agreed that we will be doing it again! The money raised from the Holiday Hoedown will go into our Christmas Spirit fund, which is given to GCISD students that need school supplies and Grapevine Senior Citizens Christmas gifts. We have mittens on a tree at the Chamber office that you can pick up, if you would like to do the shopping to brighten up the Christmas of one of our elderly. We will be delivering the Christmas gifts on Saturday, December 13. If you would like to help deliver, please contact Karen Deakin at karendeakin@sbcglobal.net. Thanks again for all of the sponsors and support of the Holiday Hoedown, and we hope you have a very Merry Christmas!
