Rocky Gribble & “The Woods”

to Perform Holiday Show at December Luncheon The Grapevine Chamber is proud to have legendary Grapevine musician Rocky Gribble & “The Woods” perform at the December Membership Luncheon, sponsored by Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine and catered by the Library Bar & Grill at Residence Inn. The luncheon will be Thursday, December 10, at 11:30 a.m., at the Grapevine Convention Center, and donations of food, clothing and toys will be collected on behalf of GRACE. The son of a West Texas cotton

farmer, Rocky Gribble’s musical roots began when he first picked up his dad’s guitar at the age of thirteen. Before he turned fourteen, Rocky was making weekly television appearances on a country music show in Lubbock, Texas. His high school years in Post, Texas were dotted with awards recognizing his talents on the guitar. A Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Southern Nazarene University in 1974 would soon follow as Rocky embarked on a career in his first love. His abilities on the electric lead guitar, acoustic rhythm guitar, nylon string classical guitar, five string banjo and mandolin keep him busy contributing to the music of countless singers and songwriters.

Make plans to attend the luncheon at the Grapevine Convention Center, located at 1209 S. Main St. (at the corner of Vine St. & Municipal Way). The cost is $25 with a reservation by 5 p.m., Tuesday, December 8, or $40 after that date. There is a $5 fee for invoicing, and all reservations not canceled by 1 p.m. the Wednesday of the luncheon will be billed. Please note that the late registration and walk-in fee has been increased to $40, and please register early! Reservations can be made by contacting the Grapevine Chamber at (817) 481-1522, emailing info@grapevinechamber. org or visiting the Chamber website’s Events Page.

U.S. Chamber Awards Grapevine Chamber with 5-Star Accreditation

The Laurel

Thomas Bain

2040 Enchanted Way, Grapevine, TX 76051 (817) 617-7400 During the November Membership Luncheon, November 12, it was announced by NBC 5’s Deborah Ferguson that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce had awarded the Grapevine Chamber with 5-Star Accreditation, for the organization’s sound policies, effective organizational procedures, and positive impact on their communities. There are 31 accredited chambers of commerce in the State of Texas, and the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce is now one of only 12 in the state to be awarded 5-Star Accreditation. “A special thanks for this award goes to Cory Halliburton, who chaired our ‘Lone Star Project,’ with the goal of taking the Grapevine Chamber from 4-Star to 5-Star Accreditation,” says RaDonna Hessel, CEO of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce. “This accreditation took a great deal of work throughout the last three years to implement changes within the nine areas of focus, meet the requirements and complete the accreditation process. The Grapevine Chamber, representing this area’s business community, is now in the top 1% of chambers of commerce in the United States.” There are approximately 7,000 chambers in the United States but only 102 are 5-Star Accredited. The only program of its kind in the country, U.S. Chamber Accreditation recognizes excellence in chamber planning and performance. To achieve Accreditation, a chamber must demonstrate quality programs, clear organizational procedures, and effective communications by meeting minimum operation and program standards in the areas of governance, program development, government affairs, and technology.

Giving Back During the Holiday Season On behalf of the Women’s Division, I would like to wish everyone a calm and peaceful Christmas and holiday season. The best gift around the tree is the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other. Thank you to the chairs of the 2015 Holiday Hoedown - Janice Kane, Shelly Ruddick and BJ Wilson. Their direction and tireless efforts, along with the Hoedown committee, made for a wonderful event. We all enjoyed a great evening raising funds for school supplies on behalf of the children of the Grapevine- Colleyville ISD community. All who attended enjoyed celebrating 50 years of serving others, having fun and enjoying time with friends in the community. We enjoyed hearing from Dr. Robin Ryan, GCISD, at our November luncheon. He discussed funding and how our taxes are spent on education for the youth of Grapevine and Colleyville. The Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation under the direction of Janice Kane was the sponsor or our November luncheon. There are only a few weeks until Christmas, and with the help of many Women’s Division members, families, Grapevine businesses and community members the angels from our trees have all been picked up. We will be ready to enjoy delivering gifts for those senior clients of GRACE, Saturday December 12. A meaningful way to end our 50th year - tender service for seniors in need that live in our community. “You can give a great and wonderful Christmas if you remember the gifts God has given and, as best you can, offer them to others as He would.” Henry B. Eyring Great work women of the Women’s Division of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce - working hard and serving the Grapevine community. See you all at our next luncheon Tuesday, December 15, 11:45 a.m. at Messina Hof Winery Grapevine. If you have questions about the Women’s Division of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce, please contact me at coplen2@ gmail.com or (817) 300-8351 .
