A Great Start to 2015 Januar y h as seemed to just f l y b y. I n m y business, January is usually a slower time of the year, but not in the Chamber business. Between the luncheon, ribbon cuttings, Business Over Coffee (morning networking), Business Builders (lunch networking), New Member Breakfast, Business After Hours Mixer, and the Economic Development Partnership meeting, you are bound to find something that

is in your wheelhouse. Always remember to check the Chamber website for all upcoming events, and please get involved. The Grapevine Chamber Community Awards Banquet, sponsored by Baylor Regional Medical Center Grapevine and hosted by Hilton DFW Lakes was an excellent event that allowed us to celebrate the successes of last year and build momentum for this year. I would like to congratulate all the individuals and businesses that were nominated for the

The 2015 Grapevine Chamber of Commerce Community Directory & Referral Guide would not be possible this year without the proofing help of the following Chamber members: • Leslie Johnson, Flynn, Francis & Clark, LLP, Attorneys at Law • Glenn Olson, Bottle & Bottega • Bob Thornton, Mid-Cities Care Corps The Chamber appreciates these members taking the time to help us make the directory as error free as possible! The Chamber would also like to thank Karl Pickens, Owner of Platinum Painting, for the work his team did painting parts of the inside of the Chamber office. They did a spectacular job!

WIN MONEY

for Attending the Luncheon!

8 l F E B R U A RY 2 0 15 www.grapevinechamber.org

Those at the January Membership Luncheon saw the “Must Be Present to Win” Drawing continue its climb to $2,000, with Joy Slingerland of Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory not in attendance. Each month at the Chamber’s Membership Luncheon, the drawing grows as long as the person whose name is called is not in attendance. To win, all you have to do is show up and hear your name be called! How easy is that? All Chamber members’ names are in the drawing, sponsored by the First Financial Bank, NA. Cash in on your membership investment by attending the monthly luncheon for your chance to win!

Looking Forward to a Great 2015 The Women’s Division is gearing up for a year of great events and great service. Kudos to Casey Hege Chair of 2014 for her direction. When you work alongside women like Casey you learn that they are true to our mission; “Women helping our community thrive so business can succeed”. I would like to commend the women who were nominees for Women’s Division Woman of the Year. Thank you to Idell Bowker and her committee for their work selecting great women in Grapevine. 2014 nominees are: Marci Junge, Theresa Mason, Mona Burk, Darlene Freed, and Carolyn Lease. Congratulations to Carolyn Lease as the 2014 Woman of the Year. The Women’s Division of the Grapevine Chamber is celebrating 50 years of serving the Grapevine community. I want to invite you to our Membership Social and Luncheon on Tuesday, February 17. This month the luncheon will be held at the beautiful Grand Hall at the Grapevine CVB Headquarters (right across from the Train Depot). This meeting is focused on recruiting new members and making sure our current members know about all of the ways to help make the organization what it is. Come join this group of service orientated women. The luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m., and space is limited. Please RSVP on the Chamber website or contact Karen Deakin at karendeakin@sbcglobal.net or (817) 300-5902. Whether it is fundraising or working on our annual projects these women get it done. Speaking of fundraising, I encourage you to put Thursday, April 9, on your calendar for the Great Taste of Grapevine at Embassy Suites - Outdoor World. Those who come can’t get enough of the great food from over 25 Grapevine restaurants! More details to come. If you would like to sponsor this event and get some fantastic recognition for your business in front of a large audience of community members, please contact Susie Howell with Frost Bank at susie.howell@frostbank.com. She would be thrilled to explain all of the different sponsorship levels and make suggestion on what fits your business best! 2015 is going to be a great year for the Women’s Division, I’m excited to add to the tradition of those who have served over the last 50 years. “Keep Calm and Serve On” is quite fitting for this group of business and community women. Please contact me with any questions or how to get involved with our great group of women at coplen2@gmail.com or (817) 300-8351.
