Grapevine Chamber = Great People Part of my duties as Chairman of the Board for the Grapev ine Chamber is writing an article for the Chamber newsletter each month. I don’t always know what to write, but I do my best. My goal is to not repeat the same things each month - like reminding you to get involved, and come to the luncheons, ribbons cuttings, Business After Hours Mixers and all the opportunities available to you each month. The Chamber is a wonderful business tool, and you should use it as much as possible to meet great people and promote your business at the same time.
So I have decided that each month I want to write about things I see going on in our Chamber business community that I think are important, and I want to recognize people and organizations for their hard work. This month I want to give a shout out to the Grapevine Ambassadors, who, every month, put in a lot of hard work promoting the Grapevine Chamber. I am not sure how many events the Chamber has each month, but you can always count on the support of the Ambassadors. However, sometimes it’s not about promoting your own business or the Chamber, but stepping up to help another local business owner and Chamber member

that might need a little help. This past month, members of the business community and several Grapevine Chamber Ambassadors, helped organize a benefit for A.J. Gillinger, owner of A.J.’s on Main. The event was to help A.J. and his family with medical costs from his recent accident, and now the Grapevine Chamber Ambassadors are planning a dinner benefit at Winewood, March 12, with proceeds going to A.J. and his family. For more information on how to get a ticket to the dinner or donate an item for the event, contact Ambassador Chair, Matt Pluta, at matt@plutainsurance.com. The Grapevine Chamber will be heading to Austin to make the voice of North Texas heard at the capital, and you’re invited to join the 2014-2015 Leadership Grapevine class on the trip, Thursday, March 19! Make plans to join the Chamber for this trip to meet with your local legislators! A bus will depart the Grapevine Chamber parking lot at 6:15 a.m. and return by 10:30 p.m. Between those times you will visit the Texas House of Representatives and Texas Senate, take a tour of the Capital, have lunch at Serrano’s, do a fun project, and meet with Senators Jane Nelson and Kelly Hancock, as well as Texas State Representative Giovanni Capriglione The trip is part of the 2014-2015 Leadership Grapevine class, but it is open to all Grapevine Chamber members for $75 per person, which includes the bus ride and lunch (but does not include the cost of dinner). If you would like to attend, you can register online through the Chamber’s online calendar of events or contact RaDonna Hessel, CEO of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce, at (817) 481-1522 or radonna@ grapevinechamber.org

Grapevine Chamber = Great People Continued from page 1 will certainly be appreciated. If you haven’t been to A.J.’s on Main yet, you need to go by for lunch or dinner soon. My favorite menu item is the pulled pork, and the beers are cold as well. If you see me there and mention this newsletter article, I will buy the first beer.

for Attending the Luncheon! Those at the February Membership Luncheon saw the “Must Be Present to Win” Drawing continue its climb to $2,050, with Cindy Knight of MassMutual North Texas Financial Group not in attendance. Each month at the Chamber’s Membership Luncheon, the drawing grows as long as the person whose name is called is not in attendance. To win, all you have to do is show up and hear your name be called! How easy is that? All Chamber members’ names are in the drawing, sponsored by the First Financial Bank, NA. Cash in on your membership investment by attending the monthly luncheon for your chance to win!

Grapevine Young Entrepreneurs Thank You Grapevine! Academy Investors Panel Event, March 17 Join the Grapevine Chamber and Grapevine-Colleyville ISD for presentations by the students in the 2013-2014 Grapevine Young Entrepreneurs Academy to a panel of local investors to obtain funding for their new businesses. The event is Tuesday, March 17, at 6:30 p.m., at the Palace Theatre in Historic Downtown Grapevine. The event is open to the public, and there is no cost to attend. Personal investments are not expected from the audience. The Grapevine YEA! Program guides students through the process of starting and running a legitimate business or social movement over the course of a full academic year. YEA! graduates may start as students, but they leave the program as CEOs of their own companies!
On behalf of Blagg Tire & Service and The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, thanks so much for the hospitality shown the last week of January during the 2015 Goodyear National Dealer Conference held at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center.
As the dealer in Grapevine, I heard several positive comments on the downtown area, as well as the Gaylord. Many comments reflected not only on the signage in the stores and across Main Street, but the hospitality from our local merchants. Grapevine represented itself well. Thanks, Perry Leonard President/COO Blagg Tire & Service

It’s Been a Busy Two Months! I don’t know about you, but the women of Women’s Division are busy! We have already accomplished so much in two months!
Here’s everything we’ve done so far: • Installed our 2015 Executive Committee members, who are listed below with names and contact information • Bowled with the Grapevine AMBUCS, actually improving our score from last year • Hosted our Annual Membership Luncheon at the Grand Hall of the Convention & Visitors Bureau, with the wonderful sponsorship of the Convention & Visitors Bureau and Gayle Hall • Heard from long-time Grapevine Chamber member Sheela Bailey of the British Emporium, as she discussed the history of drinking tea and the impact on the culture of England. It was an enlightening discussion to go with our 2015 theme - “Keep Calm and Serve On” • Launched preparations for the 20th Annual Great Taste of Grapevine, Thursday, April 9, at the Embassy Suites – Outdoor World, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.
The Great Taste of Grapevine is one of our two big fundraisers each year, and it is truly a lot of fun! We will have lots of room for mingling, a band to entertain us, and 25-30 of the highest quality Chamber member restaurants the Grapevine area has to offer. The Chairs for this event are Alisa Runge and Casey Hege. If you would like to get involved, their emails are alisarunge@gmail.com and casey@boxinsurance.com. Tickets for the Great Taste of Grapevine are $25, and you can buy them from any Women’s Division Member or on the Chamber’s website, www.GrapevineChamber.org. On the homepage, click the Great Taste logo in the middle of the page! If you would like to learn more about sponsoring the Great Taste, contact Suzie Howell at Susie.Howell@frostbank. com. Please give me a call or shoot me an email if you have questions about what we do in the Women’s Division! My contact info is below! I am honored to work with some great women - working hard and serving the Grapevine community. The Executive Committee is listed on the next page (in no particular order or ranking)! Any of these ladies would be happy to talk to you about getting involved in Women’s Division, and I hope that you reach out to learn more!
