PERSONAL SAFETY Is there an App for that?
The Grapevine Chamber of Commerce is proud to have Jeff McKissack, President of Defense by Design, speak on the topic, “Personal Safety: Is there an App for that?” The luncheon, sponsored by Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center and catered by Chill Sports Bar & Grill, will be Thursday, June 11, at 11:30 a.m. There is certainly a place for technology in our world, especially as it relates to personal safety. But is it really smart “phones” or smart people
that are needed? How do you better sharpen your instincts and discernment when faced not with a gun or knife - but a good story? How do you “update” your own personal safety through enhanced awareness? Jeff will offer four distinct strategies to make you more aware of your surroundings and the people we encounter on a daily basis. Jeff has spoken to many groups, clubs, organizations and Chambers in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area, and you may have seen him on local news. Jeff consults and trains with
those in the corporate world and regularly offers continuing education courses to those in the educational, medical, legal, financial, human resource, risk management, real estate and insurance professions. He is also a contributing writer to several state and national trade publications. His goal is to teach you how to spot trouble before trouble spots you. Make plans to attend the luncheon at the Grapevine Convention Center, located at 1209 S. Main St. (at the corner of Vine St. & Municipal Way). The Continued on page 3
Thanks for Making Main Street Fest a Success! Thanks to all of you that made the 31st Annual Main Street Fest a success! We greatly appreciate those who were able to volunteer in the Grapevine Chamber Concession Trailer and Beer booth during the festival. I may be biased, but I think the Chamber
has the best group of volunteers in the city. A special thanks to Dr. William Cummins with Wellness First Chiropractic & Family Wellness for taking on the responsibility of overseeing the Chamber Beer booth for the weekend. I know they are not volunteers, but we can’t forget all the hard work that the Chamber staff does before,

during and after the festival to make it a great event for the Chamber. I hope you all had a chance to try the funnel fries, which were a new menu item this year. I think they were huge hit, and I look forward to possibly expanding our menu for GrapeFest, September 17-20! Speaking of GrapeFest, one Continued on page 2
