Grapevine and HEB Chambers Combine Mission: for Luncheon with Lyndy Phillips

The mission of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce is to promote business that adds value to our community.

Vision: The vision of the Grapevine Chamber is a progressive business organization that brings relevant and essential opportunities for our investors and community to grow and prosper.

Values: Excellence Innovation Integrity & Community

The Grapevine Chamber is proud to announce Lyndy Phillips as the featured guest speaker at the next Membership Luncheon, combined with the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Chamber, July 9, at 11:30 a.m. at the Grapevine Convention Center, sponsored by the Marinas of Lake Grapevine and catered by Willhoite’s Restaurant. Don’t miss this opportunity to network with businesses from the HEB Chamber of Commerce! Lyndy Phillips is a dynamic speaker who uses humor, entertainment and inspiration to

make people happier, healthier and less stressed. Lyndy was raised on a farm, served 15 years in full-time ministry, worked in sales for seven years, and raised two children with his wife of 30 years. On top of all that, he was Executive Director for a television show about marriage. He knows a thing or two about stress and its impact on the body! At age seven, Lyndy was introduced to the stage in hometown melodramas. After learning sleight of hand at age nine, he began combining it with humorous stories and physical comedy to create his unique and funny style of motivation and entertainment.

While in college, Lyndy began speaking and performing parttime. In 2011, Lyndy transitioned to full-time and travels the country speaking and performing for churches, associations, corporations and organizations. He and his wife live in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area and have two grown children and a dog, Pepper. Make plans to attend the luncheon at the Grapevine Convention Center, located at 1209 S. Main St. (at the corner of Vine St. & Municipal Way). The cost is $25 with a reservation by 5 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, or $40 after that date. There is a $5 fee for Continued on page 3

Chamber Membership is a Winning Investment If you missed last month’s Chamber Membership Luncheon or are one of the few members that do not follow the Grapevine Chamber on Facebook or Twitter, then you may not know that the Must be Present to Win Drawing, sponsored by First Financial Bank, N.A., finally had a winner. Mark John-

son, owner of Sporthole Games, had his name drawn, and he took home $2,200 just for attending the luncheon! The pot will start over in July at $50, and the pot will increase by $50 each month that the winner is not present to claim the prize. Also at the Membership Luncheon, five individuals were lucky enough to find an envelope taped under their chair for a

Chamber Membership is a Winning Investment Continued from page 1 impacted by the rising waters of Lake Grapevine. Several area roads are closed, and some businesses are not accessible due to the rising waters. The Grapevine Municipal Golf Course and Mulligan’s Grill have both been inaccessible since May 29, and it is still unclear when they will be able to reopen. Paradise Cove on Lake Grapevine is another local business facing major flood issues, and it may be 90 days or more before they are able to fully operate again. These are just a few of the many businesses feeling the effects of flooding. I’m not sure what I would do if I was unable to open for business one

or two days - let alone 60 to 90 days. We need to remember all the businesses being impacted by the flood water, and once they are able to reopen, we need to show our support, like I know the Grapevine Chamber business community will do. If I or any member of your Board of Directors can be of any assistance, please let us know. We are here to serve you. Paul Slechta Chairman of the Board Owner, Panda Embroidery

Linda is a consultant with Rovia, The Smart Employer’s Solution, a company providing amazing vacation experiences as a benefit for businesses. Human capital is a business’ largest expense, and companies that take care of their employees have significantly higher employee productivity and retention. You hired and trained them, and it’s cost effective to keep good people rather than try and hire new ones, which is where we can help. Rovia’s corporate vacation benefit adds fun, freedom and fulfillment to your employees’ lives by allowing them to focus on their jobs and families, while we make all the plans for their annual or biannual vacation. They choose where they want to go, with the peace of mind that it will be first class and the arrangements will be taken care of, at a cost guaranteed to be the lowest, or it’s free. An excellent referral for Linda is a business owner who cares about the well-being, happiness and retention of his or her employees. Want to be a hero to your employees? Mark Johnson, owner of Sporthole Games, was present at the June Luncheon to hear his name called, and he was the winner of $2,200! The pot will now start over at $50. July Women’s Division Update Happy Fourth of July! We are blessed to live, work and participate in this great country. This month, please take time to reflect on the liberties given to us so many years ago. Lake Grapevine is full beyond capacity, and I would like to commend the hard working city employees and the Army Corps of Engineers who are working overtime at the lake. Luncheons for the Women’s Division have moved to a new location, and we received a warm welcome this month from the staff at Messina Hof Grapevine Winery. This location is a tribute for the 50th Anniversary of the Women’s Division, being back on Main Street and in the intimate upstairs of the historic Wallis Hotel building. Also, thank you to our caterer, Library Bar & Grill at Residence Inn, for a wonderful meal and working with us at the new location. The luncheon sponsor for June was SpringHill Suites by Marriott. The members of the Women’s Division will be taking a bit of a break until our big volunteer effort Saturday, August 8. On that day, the Women’s Division will partner with CONNECT, GRACE and GCISD’s Back to School event, and because of the hard work of our members and community supporting the Holiday Hoedown and Great Taste of Grapevine events, the Women’s Division will be purchasing $30,000 in school supplies for deserving GCISD students. I would ask all Chamber members to help with the needed additional funds to purchase the remaining school supplies. Our June luncheon was a Member Round Table, “Post-it Note Challenge,” to determine goals for the Women’s Division 50th anniversary, improve our group and build the good relationship we have with the Chamber. Over 50 Post-it Notes were flying with ideas in areas of fundraising, giving and membership/business. The Women’s Division Board of Directors will review these ideas in the coming months. Make plans to join us for the next luncheon, July 21, where our program will be The Gatehouse in Grapevine. Great work women of the Women’s Division of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce - working hard and serving the Grapevine community. If you have questions about the Women’s Division of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce, please contact me at coplen2@gmail.com or (817) 300-8351.
