Learn and Share Best Practices to Grow Your Business One of the biggest advantages of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce is the quality of businesses we have in this great Chamber. Regardless of the type of industry, you can be assured that you can find a quality Chamber business to fit your needs. We always talk about networking with businesses in an effort to build relationships with companies and educating them on what is available to each member, as well as how
companies can work together to build value for one another. Most of this relates to a sales focus, but I would also like to discuss the value of looking at these Chamber companies as an opportunity to improve your business practices. By watching what other companies do, you can see best practices that can be implemented into your own company. A major part of your Chamber Board’s focus when it came to our accreditation was to benchmark our Chamber with other Chambers that were already

accredited. Your Board of Directors took time to meet and discuss best practices with these Chambers to learn the things they do well in many different areas including governance, finance, programs, human resources, etc., to learn different ways to incorporate these practices into the Grapevine Chamber. Your Board of Directors also had the opportunity to share our practices in return. It was a very helpful practice and was critical in the Chamber achieving 4-Star Accreditation. Leadership Breakfast Series Want Better Results? Lead others to be Accountable!
The Grapevine Chamber of Commerce 2013 Leadership Breakfast Series sponsored by Lead It 2 Win It® continues August 23 at Cowboys Golf Club with Lauren Midgley speaking on Want Better Results….Lead others to be Accountable! This series is open to all Chamber members and designed for individual employees, managers or business owners who are interested in improving or developing their overall leadership skills. Accountability is about being responsible for actions and results, and many around us do not want to accept this role of being accountable. Leading others to adopt this concept is not an easy task, but you can improve this skill and see better results. Lauren Midgley, a business strategy coach and author of The Power of Focus, Intention and Momentum, will challenge us to “amp up” our own accountability efforts and those we lead. Join the session and learn how to implement the five elements of accountability and impact results NOW.
At this session, you will specifically learn:
AMP’T Continues August 19 with Baylor COO The next session of AMP’T – Advancing Modern Professionals for Tomorrow - is Monday, August 19, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Winewood in Grapevine. AMP’T is designed for Chamber members age 21-39 seeking to advance their career by learning from senior executives. More than just a meet and greet, attend and receive applicable advice from a senior executive willing to share their experience and answer questions. If you have someone in your business or organization who falls in this age range, the Chamber encourages you to send them to receive real-world advice to enhance their career. This month’s senior executive is Chris York, Chief Operating Officer of Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine. York will discuss: • His career path • What he looks for in the younger generation when hiring/promoting • Ways to advance a career There will also be time for Q&A at the end of the session. Due to limited seating, advanced registration is required. Please call the Chamber or register online at the Event Page on the Chamber website. The event is free to attend. The only cost is your lunch. Questions? Contact Michael Miori, Director of Program Development, at (817) 481-1522 or michael@grapevinechamber.org.
• Embrace the three agreements needed to hold yourself and other accountable • Identify exactly what you want to accomplish through improved focus • Set reasonable deadlines for yourself and your team • Communicate the commitment • Agree upon the consequences - good and bad

Grapevine Chamber of Commerce Women’s Division
We had a fabulous time at the Women’s Division luncheon in July. The event was jam packed with our annual business fair, showcasing several of the Women‘s Division member businesses and a fashion show by Style & GRACE, the resale boutique for women’s designer fashions that is owned and operated by G.R.A.C.E. The style show was themed to our business fair showcasing fashions for work and the models were all G.R.A.C.E. employees. We were even able to do a little bit of shopping as the Style & GRACE folks brought a portion of their store to us. What fun! Coming up soon is the Back-to-School Fair, put on by the CONNECT group, which will be held on Saturday, August 10th, 2013. The Women’s Division is proud to have provided school supply kits for 1231 students in Kindergarten through Middle School. Unfortunately, the need is so great this year that we will not be able to provide packs for the high school students. If you would like to help with this effort, please contact Nancy Coplen at 817.300.8351 or coplen2@gmail.com. Plans are now underway for our holiday fundraiser, the HoHoHoeDown. This event is tons of fun eating, dancing
and raffling all to support our school children and our senior citizens with our Women’s Division projects. Make sure Thursday, December 19th is marked on your calendar for this fabulous event. Please join us for our luncheon on Tuesday, August 20th. We will be in a different location for this month only – Cross Timbers Winery, located at 805 North Main Street at Main and Dove Loop Road. We meet at 11:45 am. Cross Timbers will also provide our program - so we’ll get to learn all about wine. Thanks to Don, Aimee and their team for hosting us and providing the program. Thanks also to Judy Sherman with Nexus Financial Advisors for being our August Luncheon Sponsor. To RSVP for the August luncheon, please contact Casey Hege at 682-551-6824 or casey@boxinsurance.com.
