What Makes Grapevine Great? People from around the country have asked - “What makes Grapevine great?” There are tow n s throughout the United States that have diverse businesses, great roads, good weather, strong leadership and friendly people, but the recent efforts by several individuals, businesses and volunteers to help one of our local companies, Big Daddy’s Ship Store and Restaurant, survive during the recent flooding is a testament to what makes Grapevine great! While the Chamber would love to take full credit for their success, it was really a group of friends, bands who played there and customers who got together and dove in to do something good for a local community business. One of the entertainers, Kristi Mattison with
the Walton Stout Band, used to own Little Pete’s on the north side of the lake. When that business flooded in 2007, this same group of community supporters helped her through that recovery. She was now returning the favor and headed this new effort. Kristi and Lisa Fellers, another entertainer in the area, decided they should do a fundraiser. They contacted Mary Jo Tellin, Director of Program Development with the Chamber, and asked if she could help them in the right direction for the rally. One of their first stops was Diane Bierman with Classic Chevrolet / The Thompson Group, who helped secure the location. Lisa then walked Main Street Grapevine, asking businesses to promote the event and seeing if they wished to donate a door prize - and boy were they willing (especially after she serenaded

one or two of them)! Soon the Chamber, as well as the City of Grapevine, started getting phone calls from businesses, as well as the media, about this wonderful event happening in Grapevine to help out business owners, Matt Armand and Craig Pritchett. From there, the momentum never stopped. While William Moore helped create their flyer, and the Chamber shared the news with our business members, it was the wonderful people of those businesses and our community who showed once again that they are what makes Grapevine great. The Grapevine Chamber is proud to be just a small part of the conduit that helps support, promote and share the great things happening in our community!
