GrapeFest® - The Largest Wine Festival in the Southwest, Sept. 11 - 14 Take a vintage journey with unique wines, fantastic finds, live entertainment and family-friendly fun at the 28th Annual GrapeFest® - A Wine Experience in Historic Downtown Grapevine September 11-14. The four-day festival will feature premium wines from Texas, the state of Washington and high-end premium wines from five of Italy’s wine regions. GrapeFest, held along Grapevine’s Historic Main Street, is the largest wine festival in the Southwest. Some of the favorite festival events include the People’s Choice Wine Tasting Classic, the largest consumer-judged wine competition in the nation; GrapeStomp; the Champagne Terrace; KidsWorld; Palette Pleasers at the Palace; GrapeFest Golf Classic; GrapeFest Tennis Classic; ItalianCarFest; five stages offering live entertainment, the Texas Wine Tribute and much more! Why celebrate Texas wine? Texas is the fifth-largest wine producing state in the United States. Named for the wild Mustang grapes that blanketed the land when settlers

first arrived to the area in 1844, Grapevine is the headquarters of the Texas Wine Industry. Texas is the site of the first vineyard established in North America circa 1662. Texas is home to nearly 300 wineries and has approximately 4,400 acres of producing vineyard farmland, producing nearly 3 million gallons each year. GrapeFest will open on Thursday, September 11 at 10 a.m. Admission is free to everyone all day Thursday and until 5 p.m. on Friday. Hours are Thursday, 10 a.m. - 10:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. - 11:30 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Admission prices are $8 for adults, $5 for seniors (62+) and children (6-12). Weekend passes are available for $18 and souvenir weekend passes are $23. Admission is free for children five and under. September, 2014

Thank You! Thank you. Those two words mean so much, but sometimes we forget to say them, whether it is in our personal life or business. With email such a big part of our daily routine, those two little words can get lost in the hundreds of messages we receive each day. Think back. When was the last time you received a hand written thank you note? Can you even remember one? I do. I received one about a month ago from Drew DeHaven, the young man who got to go to Washington D.C. to promote his new YEA! business and compete at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Small Business Summit. The hand writing wasn’t perfect, but the brief sentiment was real, and I still have the note sitting on my desk. It meant a lot to me that a 14-year old boy took a few minutes out of his day to express his appreciation (even if as a mom, I can hear his mom “suggesting” he write it!). Continued on page 2
