GRAPEVINE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE EXECUTIVE BOARD CHAIR Trudy Cresswell Grapevine Mills, A Simon Company

The monthly Chamber luncheon is not only a fun way to spend an hour, but provides an opportunity to hear from unique individuals with timely thoughts and messages. In June we heard from Judge Glen Whitley as part of his “farewell tour” where he shared so many insights into his long-standing career in public service; how it all began and the successes he built along the way. In July the luncheon will be a combined Chamber event with the Hurst Chamber of Commerce and offers a much larger group of business professionals to network with, learn from and bolster new connections. This will be an opportunity to get to know our neighbors from the Hurst Euless Bedford Chamber. (Make note – the luncheon location has changed to the Texas Star, so RSVP’s will be required due to space.) In August, as your Grapevine Chamber so often does - - we are breaking the mold again and are trying something new. The August monthly luncheon will bring together a group of local non-profit organizations in an “open house” format, allowing you to explore the different charities, discover their missions and perhaps uncover a charity you would like to align with. Think of it as a speed-dating for charities. Spend a few minutes chatting to learn a bit more about the charity and see if you are a good match. There is so much good happening in our community because of the work these nonprofits deliver every day, and the Grapevine Chamber is thrilled to bring them all together form one exciting luncheon event. I encourage you to mark your calendars for the third Thursday of each month (check the website as occasionally the dates will shift) and spend some time with other business professional from the community, enjoy a delicious lunch with friends new and old and perhaps even win one of the many door prizes provided by local member businesses.

WOMEN'S DIVISION NEWS

The Women’s Division is a group of 117 members working together to make our community better. We continue to look for ways to grow our business networks with each other while we SERVE together. June saw us participating in GRACE’s Feed our Kids program where we provided 100 children a warm meal along with fruit, cookies and juice. What a privilege it is to participate in this wonderful program. Our group is just starting work on our next major fundraiser – Elves on the Run – a family friendly 5K on December 3rd at Oak Grove Park in Grapevine. A huge shout out to our Co-Chairs Amanda Calongne and Cass Clements – thank you ladies for volunteering to chair this community wide event. If you are interested in working on the committee, sponsoring the event or participating in the run, please reach out to Amanda or Cass. In the past 10 years, the Women’s Division has given out more than $440,000 to those less fortunate. Last year alone, we provided 1,501 GCISD students with school supplies at the start of the school year so they would be prepared to learn. At Christmas, we partnered with GRACE to assist almost 90 elderly with gifts and other items to insure they enjoyed a wonderful holiday season. It is one of our goals to continue to SERVE the community. Please consider joining the Women’s Division. It is a great way to meet other Chamber members interested in serving others. Our next luncheon will be July 12th at the Blankenship Center You may register online at grapevinechamber.org/events. Until next time,
