You don't want to miss our monthly luncheon in June. On Thursday, June 16th, County Judge B. Glen Whitley will join us to discuss the current state of Tarrant County. Judge Glen Whitley has served as the Tarrant County Judge since 2007, having previously served as a Tarrant County Commissioner since 1997. In his role, Judge Whitley presides over the Tarrant County Commissioners Court and provides leadership on issues related to policy and county services for the 15th largest county in the United States. He is a leader on a wide range of issues including transportation, efficient government, sustainable communities, higher education, youth and children’s issues, and support for veterans and military families. Judge Whitley also serves as the head of emergency management for the County, a role that proved critical over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic. Judge Whitley has been lauded for his collaborative approach to crisis management, as he has worked closely with regional partners including cities, school districts, hospitals, service providers, non-profit organizations, and many others throughout the pandemic response. He is proud to be a past president of the National Association of Counties and of the North Central Texas Council of Governments, organizations that help local governments develop policy, recognize regional opportunities, and make collaborative decisions. Additionally, he is a past chairman of the Regional Transportation Council and the Texas Conference of Urban Counties. Judge Whitley currently serves as the President of the West Texas County Judge and Commissioners Association of Texas and as a board member of the National Association of Counties and the Texas Association of Counties. He also serves on the Federal Communications Commission’s Intergovernmental Advisory Committee where he advises the Commission on critical telecommunication issues. In 2010, Judge Whitley was nationally recognized by American City and County magazine as “County Leader of the Year.” Judge Whitley earned an accounting degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and has served in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Prior to serving in County leadership, Judge Whitley was a business owner and co-founder of the accounting firm Whitley Penn. He and his wife, Brenda, live in Hurst, where they are longtime members of First United Methodist Church Hurst. They have three children and nine grandchildren.
