2030 and Beyond! H a p p y March! Hard to believe that Spring is around the corner and that we are approaching the end of the 1st quarter of 2020. This month I would like to give you an idea of the scope of work that your Board of Directors has tasked itself with to steer the direction of the Chamber in the coming year, while keeping in mind the Chairman’s “theme”. At the beginning of each year, your Chamber Board meets for a Strategic Planning Retreat to put in place goals and objectives that we would like to accomplish by the end of the year, as well as looking several years into the future. We focus on three primary areas of focus for the Board’s time and energy – Leadership, Business Partnerships and Stewardship & Prosperity – designed to add value to your Chamber membership. A couple of this year’s goals of the Leadership team is working on the Reaccreditation of our 5-Star Chamber. This application

is evaluated every 5 years by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. There are currently only 18 chambers in the State of Texas – including Grapevine – that are 5-Star accredited. The process to qualify is rigorous. This is a really big deal in the Chamber world! Another focus of the Leadership team is to continue to advocate for our local businesses with our elected officials in Austin in preparation for next years legislative session. And then, the Business Partnership team will be working with our Ambassadors to help new members get plugged into and involved in our numerous programs and events - City Economic Development/ Chamber Partnership meeting, Senior Services Alliance, AMP’T (Young professionals under 40) and the Women’s Division luncheons are a few of the monthly activities that fall under this team’s watchful eyes. Business Partnerships helps to develop programs that assist in building business relationships and equip our Chamber members with information that can help them be successful. Stewardship & Prosperity is

exactly what it sounds like. This team is in charge of goals and ideas for fundraising and ensuring that the financial interests of the Chamber are in good working order.

Your Board of Directors’ commitment is not only focused on making 2020 a successful year, but investing in ideas and goals to keep your Chamber great for many years in the future. . . . 2030 AND BEYOND! (Look for Buzz around town in the coming year!) This is the theme for my year, as I hope we are all planning for a successful future for the end of my year, as well as the looking ahead towards the next decade. Thank you for the honor of serving as your Chamber Chair for 2020. Please let me know how I can be of service to you.
