LEADERSHIP GRAPEVINE "COVID CLASS" SET TO GRADUATE AT THE MAY MEMBERSHIP LUNCHEON The 2020-2021 Leadership Grapevine class, or "Covid Class" as they have lovingly named themselves, will celebrate graduation from their year-long program at the Chamber’s luncheon on Thursday, May 20th, at 11:30 a.m. May's luncheon, sponsored by Bank of the West and hosted at Courtyard/TownePlace Suites, will include a Year in Review of the graduate's accomplishments along with photo recap of year's activities. The new graduates are now able to move on to the next level of leadership and involvement in the Leadership Grapevine Program as alumni. A program of the City of Grapevine and the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Grapevine offers an educational experience designed to develop an awareness of the city, its relationship with the DFW Metroplex and to provide personal leadership training. At the conclusion of the program, participants are better prepared, to seek leadership roles, both within their business and community. Applications for the 2021-2022 Leadership Grapevine class will open in June. Make your plans to attend the luncheon today. The cost is $25 with a reservation by 5 p.m., Tuesday, May 18, or $40 after that date. Reservations can be made by contacting the Grapevine Chamber at (817) 481-1522, emailing info@grapevinechamber.org or visiting the Chamber website Events Page.

REASONS FOR OPTIMISM If you were able to attend your Grapevine Chamber Luncheon in April, our guest speaker Rodney H. Johnson, Director, Tarrant Small Business Development Center, shared very promising data regarding the current state of business. Mr. Johnson presented data from the United States Census Bureau on the overall impact of the Coronavirus pandemic. In his report, graphs were shown about how U.S. Small Businesses were experiencing increases in operating revenues/sales/receipts week over week, marking the fifth consecutive week of reported increases as of 4/04/2021. It was also noted that new Texas Business Applications rose +4.7% YOY to 37,603 as compared to a decline of (-5.3%) in April 2020. Locally, help wanted advertisements and job fairs (virtual and in person) are in the news daily. Hotel occupancy is on the rise with more flights being reported into DFW and Love Field airports. I recently spent a Saturday afternoon with my family visiting downtown Grapevine and shopping on Main Street. I decided to take the Texas Rail from Keller into Grapevine and boy, was I impressed with the high volume of traffic on the train coming into Grapevine for the day. More importantly, I was so happy to see robust activity of patrons shopping and eating at the various restaurants. These are all healthy signs that our recovery is underway. As the nation continues to vaccinate everyone that wants to be vaccinated (200 million plus as of 4/22/2021) there is good reason to be optimistic about life in general. As a business, those that serve the public (in any capacity) know firsthand that “service excellence” is paramount in creating “customer value” to grow your business. At your Grapevine Chamber, we want to partner with you in anyway possible to ensure that we provide Chamber resources to help you sustain and grow your business. Since January 2021, we have welcomed (32) new members in the Chamber and look forward to our new membership drive in August 2021. Let us all share this renewed business spirit that we will continue to not only raise our business revenue and volume but more importantly, build a better community that our children and grandchildren can enjoy. Renewed Excitement Happy Spring! The Women’s Division is very much looking forward to changing of the “season” and getting back to (almost) normal!! Grapevine events are getting back on track, and we have lots of information to share with you. Main Street Days is coming up very quickly! It is scheduled for May 15th and 16th. Lots of changes to the format of the event this year, but the event is still a celebration of and in Grapevine. The Women’s division will be working volunteer slots in the Craft Beer Pavilion this year instead of our normal beer booths. Huge thank you and shout out to the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and all the people and organizations working very hard to put on this event. The Women’s Division is looking forward to be back volunteering in the community and seeing all of you! Planning is under way to get school supplies to the students in need in GCISD. The date of the back-to-school fair is August 7th. This is one of the Women’s Division’s philanthropic events each year, and we are looking forward to being able to support these children again, as we have for many years. The Women’s Division two main fundraising events are in the planning stages! The date has been set for the Great Taste of Grapevine. This year’s event will take place at the Hilton DFW Lakes on October 14th. Our committee will be contacting area restaurants soon, and we are looking forward to holding our 25th Annual event. We are also getting close to making some decisions on the date, format and place for Elves on the Run. As soon as we have more information to share, we will certainly do that. As you can see, things are getting rolling again. Lots of activity and lots of opportunities for everyone to get involved! If you are interested in learning more about the Women’s Division, I invite you to attend one of our monthly luncheons. They are held the second Tuesday of each month. More information can be found on the Chamber website. You may also contact me at sssmith33@me.com or Susie Howell at Susie.howell@frostbank.com. We would be happy to answer any questions you have about our group.

Chamber. Each calendar has a number from 000-999. 2. Check the Monday evening Texas Lottery pick 3 drawing to see if the numbers drawn match the numbers on your calendar (we will also contact you if your calendar is a winner). 3. If they match, you win a case of wine from around the world with a $250-750 value per case.
GRAPEVINE JOB FAIR CONNECTS LOCAL JOB SEEKERS TO OVER 800 AVAILABLE POSITIONS
On April 22nd, your Grapevine Chamber hosted one of the first in-person job fairs in the metroplex, with 35 employers and just over 100 job seekers in attendance for the Grapevine Job Fair. Participating employers offered just over 800 positions in the fields of hospitality, automotive, entertainment, and government, just to name a few. We would like to extend a big thank you to our 35 participating businesses, and to the staff at The REC of Grapevine, for being such gracious hosts for the event. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 1, 2021, as we will be hosting the NTX Regional Job Fair at the Grapevine Convention Center. If you are interested in registering now, please reach out to John Adkins at john@grapevinechamber.org.

SBA LAUNCHES SUPPLEMENTAL TARGETED ADVANCE FOR SMALL BUSINESSES HARDEST HIT BY COVID-19
The U.S. Small Business Administration launched a new round of Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) assistance – called Supplemental Targeted Advances – on April 22, 2021 that will provide $5 billion in additional assistance to 1 million small businesses and nonprofit organizations that have been most severely affected by the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Supplemental Targeted Advance program is the latest SBA relief program to launch as part of the American Rescue Plan Act on March 11, 2021. “Many of our nation’s small businesses are still struggling to recover from the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and we’ve found that the smallest businesses -- the majority of which are minority-owned -are hurting the most. The SBA’s Supplemental Targeted Advance program aims to reach those businesses with 10 employees or less who need our help today,” said SBA Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman. “The Supplemental Targeted Advance funds will help us make sure that no small business falls through the cracks or gets left behind. This program is a crucial part of our efforts to bring businesses back, create jobs and build an equitable economy for everyone.” This additional relief to the smallest and hardest hit businesses builds on Administrator Guzman’s April 6 action to significantly increase the maximum loan amounts for COVID-19 EIDL assistance from 6 months of working capital with a maximum of $150,000 up to 24 months of working capital and a maximum of $500,000. SBA also announced on March 12 that the agency would extend deferment periods for all disaster loans, including COVID-19 EIDLs, until 2022 to provide more time for businesses to build back. Effective April 22, the SBA modified the Targeted EIDL Advance application process to determine if businesses also qualify for the additional $5,000 Supplemental Targeted Advance. SBA will contact eligible business entities to apply and applications will be processed on a first-come, firstserved basis. To qualify for the Supplemental Targeted Advance, an eligible business entity must be in a low-income community, suffered greater than 50 percent economic loss, and have 10 or fewer employees. For details about the Targeted EIDL Advance and Supplemental Targeted Advance program, please visit SBA.gov/eidl.
The “Must Be Present to Win” Drawing continues its climb. With Darrell DeLong with DFW Parking Lot Striping not in attendance for the April luncheon, the prize is now up to $1,100 for May. Each month at the Chamber’s Membership Luncheon, the drawing grows by $50 as long as the person whose name is called is not in attendance. To win, all you have to do is show up and hear your name be called! How easy is that? All Chamber members are eligible to win.
