LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAM

Levels are divided by age and skill level. (See table below.) To help us maintain quality instruction time, please enroll your child in the appropriate level based on their capability to participate in the bulleted skills listed by age below. VARIOUS LEVELS FOR LEARN TO SWIM PRIVATE LESSONS

Receive one-on-one attention to enhance instruction of swimming skills for all ages and levels. Private lessons are held at the pools during regular Learn to Swim times. • 4 classes total • 1 student and 1 instructor Fee: $100 Resident or Member / $120 Non-resident or Non-member

WATER BABIES

(offered only as a group class) Ages: 6 – 35 months old Introduces child and an adult to basic water adjustment and safety through play. Playful learning has been proven to produce positive experiences and build confidence.

Adult accompanies child into the water.

• Bubbles and going under • Entering/exiting the pool safely • Floats, kicks, and arm strokes

WATER TOTS

(offered only as a semi-private class) Ages: 18 – 35 months old This class is designed for children already comfortable in the water, ready to transition to a group setting, and accustomed to being away from parents for at least 30 minutes.

Adult does not accompany child into the water.

• Water adjustment • Submerge face and bubbles • Floats, kicks, and arm strokes

PRESCHOOL 1

Ages: 3 – 5 years old All skills are done with support. • Fully submerge face • Blow bubbles • Floats, kicks and arm strokes

PRESCHOOL 2

Ages: 3 – 5 years old Skills are encouraged to be tried independently. • Breath control • Push off side and glide • Push off side and swim

LEVEL 1

Ages: 5 – 8 years old • Front crawl 5 feet • Front glide 5 feet • Back glide 5 feet • Front float 5 seconds

LEVEL 2

Ages: 6 – 9 years old • Front glide 10 feet • Back glide 10 feet • Back float 10 seconds • Swim front crawl 10 feet

LEVEL 3

Ages: 6 – 12 years old • Front crawl 15 yards • Backstroke 15 yards • Elem. Backstroke kick 15 yards • Breaststroke kick 15 yards

LEVEL 4

Ages: 7+ years • Front crawl 25 yards • Backstroke 15 yards • Breaststroke 15 yards • Butterfly 15 yards

LEVEL 5

STROKE SKILLS

DIVING

JR. GUARD

This is NOT a lifeguard certification class.

ADULT SWIM LESSONS

WATER WORKS

Participants will be led through a series of exercises set to music that will help boost cardio and strength. Class is held in the lap lanes with a depth of 4 feet. Day: Mondays & Wednesdays • Time: 6:30 – 7:30 pm Ages: 16+ years • Fee (monthly): $40 Member / $45 Non-member RIVER ROBICS

Participants will be led through a series of exercise and stretches while walking the river, which will help boost cardio, strength, and flexibility. Class is held in the river/leisure area with a depth of 3.5 feet. Day: Tuesdays & Thursdays • Time: 10:00 – 11:00 am Ages: 16+ years • Fee (monthly): $40 Member / $45 Non-member

GRAPEVINE GATORS

TAAF SUMMER SWIM TEAM

The City’s summer league team is the perfect opportunity for kids and adults to try out competitive swimming and perfect their strokes. Swimmers compete in local meets and a regional qualifier meet and possibly qualify for the State meet, which will be held in Brownsville, Thursday, July 27 – Sunday, July 30. To qualify for the summer league team, swimmers must be able to complete a 25-meter swim unassisted.
