The Grapevine Parks and Recreation Club All-Access program is designed to promote positive emotional, social, physical, and cognitive support for individuals with special needs. Our goal is to provide an enjoyable recreation and leisure experience. We will encourage participation, explore talents, experience new opportunities, and engage with peers in a fun and safe environment.

CLUB ALL-ACCESS DAY PROGRAM

Participants of the Club All-Access Day Program will be introduced to a variety of classes geared towards supporting social and communication skills, vocational readiness, health/wellness, and independent living and life skills. We are also excited to integrate fun field trips, volunteering, and community outings for additional learning opportunities. Participants will receive a monthly calendar outlining the specific classes/activities and outings offered each month. The program will observe holiday breaks consistent with the GCISD calendar.

• Vocational Foundations: Job-focused work tasks their own decision-making skills through the guidance of a professional artist. The styles of art include pastels, watercolor, acrylics, and oils. CLUB CHEF ADAPTIVE COOKING CLASS

This adaptive cooking class is designed for adults with special needs. Participants will learn basic cooking skills and simple recipes to make them more independent in the kitchen. Skills taught will focus on kitchen safety, motor skills, and building social skills. Participants will learn in a secure, supportive, and fun environment. CLUB ALL-ACCESS SUMMER EXCURSIONS

Join Club All-Access this summer as we explore and discover all that Dallas-Fort Worth has to offer. These weekly excursions will give adults with special needs the opportunity to experience independence, improve their social skills, build their self-esteem, and engage with their peers. Early registration for Club All-Access participants opens Monday, April 3rd. Summer Sessions

*Weekly fee covers all excursion entry fees. An additional fee will be required for summer T-shirts and outings that include food and beverage purchases. Excursions are subject to change. Note: Details of weekly excursions will be available two weeks prior to the start date. Enrollment for weekly excursions must be paid seven days in advance to secure the participant’s spot. Space is limited to 25 participants per week. In order to register for Club All-Access Summer Excursions, you must have gone through the program’s intake interview.

Dates: Monday, January 9 – Friday, May 26 Day: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays Location: The REC of Grapevine Time: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm Ages: 18+ years Fee (monthly): $195 Resident / $245 Non-resident Note: If field trips require a fee, it will be noted on the monthly calendar. Starting January 1, 2023, there will be a $5 transportation fee for all non-paid outings.

ENROLLMENT PROCESS

The application process helps our team determine how to best serve our participants and their families. Step 1: Complete the enrollment form online at GoGrapevine.com/ AdaptiveRec. Step 2: After the enrollment form is submitted, an intake interview and facility tour will be scheduled with the program coordinator. Step 3: An annual fee of $200 is required to secure a spot in the Club All-Access Day program. This is a one-time annual fee required upon registering for the Club All-Access program and is separate from the monthly fee. The registration fee will hold the participant’s spot in the program during the school year and will cover the cost of their Club AllAccess T-shirt and badge. This fee is not required for the Club All-Access Summer Program.

THERAPEUTIC REC CLASSES

CLUB WARRIOR ADAPTIVE FITNESS

The Club Warrior Adaptive Fitness program is designed to provide individuals with varying physical abilities the opportunity to be more active and physically fit and enhance their performance for specific sports. The workouts will not only improve the participant’s endurance, strength, flexibility, speed, and overall health, it will also improve their mood and build their self-confidence. Through our initial assessment, we will be able to determine the participant’s fitness progress. No matter what fitness level the participant is on, they will be pushed to their full potential while being coached with positive reinforcement. As Club Warrior coaches we are determined to challenge not only the body, but also the mind. SPECIAL TOUCH ART CLASS

Designed for adults with special needs, this art class explores different subjects and mediums to fit each individual’s expression and abilities while fostering self-esteem, group participation, self-control, and individuality. Students learn to explore a variety of different art materials and styles and are encouraged to trust

TRANSPORTATION

The REC of Grapevine provides transportation for Grapevine residents 55 & Better to and from The REC of Grapevine, Monday through Friday. We also provide opportunities for grocery shopping and various other activities. Daily transportation reservations are required by 2:00 pm the preceding day.

SENIOR MOVERS

This volunteer-based program assists with the routine medical and dental transportation needs of the local senior population. Riders must be pre-registered, give 48-hour notice of need, and require very minimal assistance. Volunteers are needed for this vital service. Friends of Grapevine Senior Activity Center—Tax-deductible donations for this 501(c)3 organization are used to improve technology, supplement recurring programs, and further educational opportunities for Active Adults 55 & Better at The REC of Grapevine. NETS

The Northeast Transportation Service (NETS) is a door-to-door, demandresponsive, para-transit service operated by Catholic Charities. It is available to adults 65 years of age or older and the disabled. NETS may be used for medical appointments, socialization, employment, essential shopping, and education purposes. Call NETS at 817.336.8714.

VOLUNTEER WITH ACTIVE ADULTS

GSCAB

Grapevine Senior Citizens Advisory Board—This City Council-appointed board meets once a quarter to address senior issues in our community. This is an open meeting, so everyone is welcome to attend and share ideas. Changes or cancellations will be posted on GrapevineTexas.gov.

FIELD TRIPS

Each month, there are opportunities for seniors to go on various field trips in the Metroplex. Seniors experience going to museums, sightseeing, restaurants, and many opportunities to explore the community.
