BUD MOORE RECEIVES AWARD A long-time supporter of the Walking Horse industry, Bud Moore, was recently selected as a member of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. Moore was born on October 16, 1939 in Jasper, Alabama. He played football and baseball at Alabama and then went into coaching with assistant coaching positions at Alabama, Kentucky, Texas A&M and North Carolina. In 1975, Moore became head coach at Kansas and was named Big Eight Coach of the Year by the AP and UPI after taking the Jayhawks to a 7-5 record. Moore led his team to a 23-3 upset over the eventual national champ Oklahoma, breaking the Sooners’ 37 game unbeaten streak in his inaugural season and had an 18-26-1 record in three seasons at Kansas. In 1996, he was named recipient of the Paul W. Bryant Alumni-Athlete Award. The Scoop congratulates Bud Moore on this outstanding recognition. Page 20 / The Scoop
WEBB RECEIVES HONOR Walking Horse owner and supporter, Senator Robin Webb was recently awarded the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation’s Brad Rowse Award for her work in the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses. The organization was started a little more than 15 years ago. Brad Rowse was the 26 year old DC staffer that got Webb involved in the organization, and passed away in his sleep not long after their meeting. The award named in Brad’s honor is meaningful to the organization, as it is not given every year, and Webb considers it a precious honor. What started with a few states in a meeting in Texas, now has an official presence in 48 states and works to preserve the cultural heritage of hunting, fishing, trapping, funding conservation and promoting the North American Model of Wildlife Management. The Senator was very moved by this recognition. She feels blessed to share the honor with so many friends that have enriched her life. Specifically she is thankful that her grandpa and her daddy shared their experiences of nature, sporting dogs, hunting, and fishing along with the values of each. The Scoop congratulates Senator Robin Webb on this award.
