EAST TENNESSEE CLASSIC ANNOUNCES TRAINERS’ INCENTIVE

The East Tennessee Classic Horse Show will be held June 16, 2018 at the South Central Ruritan Horse Show Park in Chuckey, TN. Organizers of this show have announced a Trainers’ Award incentive. $300 will be awarded to the trainer with the most entries, and $100 will be awarded to the trainer traveling the furthest.

CELEBRATION SPONSORS PARTY AT BLUE RIBBON CIRCLE The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration’s Corporate Sponsor Party will be held on the first Saturday night of the 2018 Celebration. Last year was the first year the event was held at the Blue Ribbon Circle. Because of the overwhelming success in attendance, the event will be held on The Celebration grounds once again. Celebration board member, Rick Insell has agreed to spearhead the project again this year. The corporate sponsor party will be held Saturday, August 25th. CELEBRATION STADIUM LIGHTS WILL GET AN UPGRADE

The Board of Directors for The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration recently approved to replace the stadium lights for the outdoor arena. The upgrade will be completed before the 80th Annual Celebration begins in August.

KENTUCKY AUXILIARY HOSTS JUVENILE SHOW

STANFORD, KY- The KWHA Juvenile Auxiliary Horse Show was recently held on Saturday, May 19th, 2018 in Stanford Kentucky. The Honorable Terry Lunsford judged the 36 classes. Show Manager Christin Wood announced that there were 95 entries. The Walking Horse Stake class was the grand finale of this show. The class was held in memory of Gary Oliver. Taking the championship title was The Legal Tender and Scotty Brooks for owner Brad Bertram. The Scoop congratulates everyone involved in this successful show.

TWHBEA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AMENDS RULE

The Walking Horse Owners Association would like to announce that Ballots During the 2017 Celebration, mechanical lighting issues occurred. TWHBEA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AMENDS RULE

In a unanimous vote affirming the motion made by Mr. Keegan Meadows, the Executive Committee amended the rules for the International High Point Program. In support of show management responsibility for inspections and procedures, according to the HPA, the Committee removed the requirement that the show be affiliated with an HIO. This rule change makes it possible now for the farther west, north and south regions that have Tennessee Walking Horse shows/ classes at shows to register for the high points program. Likewise, Europe can register its’ shows for the IHPP and all exhibitors duly following the remaining rules are eligible for those points and awards. Laurel Elaine Roberts Cottingham, age 36, of Salem, Missouri, passed away May 22, 2018, in Boss, Missouri. Memorial visitation for Laurel Cottingham was held Monday, May 28, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service was held the same evening at Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel. A second memorial visitation for Cottingham will be held Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 6:45 PM at Valley Springs/Brushy Creek Lodge and Resorts in Black, Missouri with a Celebration of Life Service following at 7:00 PM. Funeral services for Rita Ann Potter Hudgens, age 65, of Franklin, TN were held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2018, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Brother Julian Goodpaster officiating. Burial followed at Rosebank Cemetery. Mrs. Hudgens passed from this life Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Tennova Healthcare of Shelbyville after an extended illness. Visitation was held from 12:00 p.m. until service time Thursday, at the funeral home. Rita Ann Hudgens was born October 16, 1952 in Morristown, TN to the late Ralph and Juanita Drinnon Potter. She worked as an office manager for her husbandâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s business (Middle Tennessee Comfort) for many years. She was a Tennessee Walking Horse enthusiast, having won several championships in the amateur classes, including: the Two Year Old and Three Year Old Philly class, Two Year Old and Three Year Old Futurity class, and the Three Year Old stake. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include: loving husband of 48 years, Frank W. Hudgens; sons, Gregory (Beth) Allen of Shelbyville and Wesley (Dana) Hudgens of Lebanon; grandchildren, Tyler Allen, Maddox, and Hayden Hudgens; sister, Sandra Potter and brother, Jimmy Potter both of Morristown.
