44th Annual Northside Lions Club Northside Lions Club • Samantha, AL Gilbert McCarley Memorial Horse Show SAMANTHA, AL-While this year’s show was not very large with less than 50 entries, the quality of the horses shown was exceptional. Proceeds from this show provides assistance for The Blind of Alabama, Leader Dog, Camp Seal Harris, Diabetes, Underprivileged Children and the needy within this community. The Estate of Gilbert McCarley had several entries throughout the night. Just a few of these are Slot’s Deal Or No Deal with Linda McCarley in the Model division with Reserve going to Pride’s Midnight Flame and Melissa Rowell. Carthage, TN-The 51st Annual Smith County Horse Show was held June 19, 2015. The show was located at the Smith County Agriculture Center in Carthage, Tennessee. The start time was 5:30pm sharp. Past Celebration judge, Paul Robbins marked the cards for this 28 class event. A familiar voice, Bobby Sands, announced the show while Wayne Nabors played the organ. The show featured two Racking classes in addition to the other Walking classes. Taking home all the glory in the Stake class was Todd Claborn and Intimidators Boogieman for owner, Larry Ford. The Scoop For The Walking Horse Industry Nestor Stewart obituary McMinnville, TN resident and DeKalb County, TN native H. Nestor Stewart, age 87, was born March 31, 1928 and died June 23, 2015 at Raintree Manor following a brief illness. The founder and owner of Stewart’s Pharmacy and a member of Central Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Homer Hobson and Elizabeth Waddell Stewart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Mary Elizabeth Stewart; and sister, Joanne Haislip. He was married September 7, 1950 to Dorothy Jo Sanders Stewart of McMinnville. Judges for the 77th Annual Celebration
77TH CELEBRATION ANNOUNCES JUDGING PANEL FRIDAY, JUNE 26, 2015 The 77th Annual Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration will be judged by the veteran group of Jennifer Bingham, Derek Bonner, David Landrum, David Sisk and Sam Sorrell. The five-judge panel has judged the Celebration a combined 12 previous times. Bingham, from Crittenden, Ky., will be making her sixth appearance at the historic show grounds in Shelbyville, Tenn. Her previous judging assignments came in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014. Bonner, from Mooresboro, N.C., will be making his second appearance with the first coming in 2013. Landrum, from Franklin, Tenn. will be making his third appearance in the big oval. Landrum first judged the Celebration in 1980 and then made his second appearance last year. Sisk, from Columbia, Tenn. is judging for the second consecutive year after making his debut as a judge at the Celebration last year. Sorrell, from Lexington, Ky., will be judging for the fourth time. His three previous assignments came in 2005, 2007 and 2009. Celebration Chief Executive Mike Inman offered the following comments about the judging panel. “I feel strongly that this panel is one of the most respected and qualified ever to mark the cards at the Celebration. Based on the multi- day shows we have seen so far those abilities will be tested as I anticipate the most competitive 10 days that we have seen for several years.” The 77th Celebration will be August 26 – September 5, 2015 at the Calsonic Arena and Celebration Outdoor Arena on the show grounds of the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration. I am equally excited about some of the changes and additions to this years’ class line up along with new special events and activities scheduled to take place during this years’ Celebration. New traditions and fun will be begin in 2015. Those announcements will begin next week,” concluded Inman.

Anita Louise Crowder, born June 19, 1944 to the late Jesse Ralph Johnston and the late Ina Mae Nelson Johnston and is preceded in death by: son; Tommy Crowder, brothers; Darrell Johnston, Stanley Johnston, Clyde Johnston, Don Johnston and John “Butch” Johnston. Mrs. Crowder was a member of Whiteside United Methodist Church, was one of the 1st officers and founder of the Walking Horse Trainers Aux, and started the 1st Tony Rice Horse Show. Survivors include: husband of 53 years Dude Crowder, daughter; Samantha Kovalick of Shelbyville, grandson; Jacob Kovalick of Christiana, sister; Robin Y. Williams of Knoxville, mother-in-law; Clara Crowder, sister-in-law; Pat Diggs of Clinton, TN, and many nieces and nephews. Just Call Me Duke and Dana Holt brought home the blue in the Trail Pleasure class. They were joined by her Dad, David Holt.
Ears up and all smiles after another flawless performance, was Pusher Outta Line and Emily Zahnd. They were met by trainer and dad, Chris Zahnd, Amber Basket and Robert Cortner.

Dunlap, Tennessee- The 52nd Annual O.K. Hege Memorial Horse Show was held Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Sequatchie County Park in Dunlap, Tennessee. The show was sponsored by the Dunlap Lions Club. Opening ceremonies began at 6:30pm sharp with Amy Dean singing the National Anthem. The Honorable Don Milligan marked the cards for the 25 class event that included Walking, Racking and Spotted horse classes. It was a cool, breezy evening for a horse show which was more pleasurable than the hot, sticky weather that proceeded the week before. Leading off the evening was the Open Racking class which was won by the lovely, Allison Stamper and Silver Dollar Bum for owner, Tim Griswold. Allison had a total of 4 blues for the evening! The trainer with the most entries in both the Walking and Spotted classes received a $100 check. Winning both divisions was trainer, Link Webb. Culminating the evening was the Walking Horse Stake class. Five top notch entries filled the ring with their trainers vying for the title. When all was said and done it was, King’s Code Blue and Justin Harris walking their way to victory for owners, Enfinger and Williamson. Reserve went to Intimidator’s Boogieman and Link Webb for owner, Larry Ford.

Chestnut Hill • Dandridge, TN The Chestnut Hill Charity show was held in Dandridge, TN in the historic Chestnut Hill Community. The hills around this community were once covered with beautiful American Chestnut trees until the chestnut blight destroyed the trees, but the name Chestnut Hill has remained. Nestled between the slopes of the English Mountains and Douglas Lake, Chestnut Hill offers breathless lake and mountain views. No stranger at putting on a top notch show the Chestnut Hill Volunteer Fire Department did it again. Although, Friday night’s card was called early due to much needed rain, the Chestnut Hill Volunteer Fire Department pick up on Saturday night where it had left off the night before. Trainers as far away as Alablama, Georgia, South Carolina, Virgina, and Middle Tennessee were on hand to exhibit. The Honorable Mack Deckle marked the cards and did an outstanding job. Interrupted by off and on rain showers, Judge Deckle was flawless in getting the classes in and out. The 36 class card was marked and in the record books by midnight. All proceeds for the show go to the Chestnut Hill Volunteer Fire Department in effort to continue their outstanding support to the Community in Fire and Rescue!
