PORTFOLIO LIULIHUI SELECTED WORKS 2014-2020

This portfolio displays some projects undertaken by myself and some cooperate with the company team from 2014 to 2020.The selected works have been deconstructed into 4 sections: Passion of design thinkingďźš This part of the project is mainly to show my thinking process and application of design methodology. During the designing process, I made a series of mind maps to help me sort out the design logic. In the meanwhile, I searched a lot of design literature to help me find design inspiration.

PLAY

Lifestyle of history: This part of the project which is the first project I participate in with my company team, and it is a historical block transformation project, We conducted in-depth research on the culture, history and urban development of the region. By retaining the place of the element, optimization the scale and buildings of old street.Activate the vitality of the region and bring the new vitality for the old street. Achievement of creativeďźš This part of the project is based on the high-density city ,I want to explore the thinking of new life mode of the city.I conducted a systematic investigation and research on the high-density urban villages, and proposed two creative strategies for the problems faced by public space and residential space, hoping to improve the quality of life in urban villages.At the same time these two design results obtained the national utility model patent certificate. Year of constructďźš This part of projects are the boutique architectural design and construction that I participated in. Through these projects, I learned the whole life cycle of architecture, from design to selection of building materials and the final construction. During this process, I learned a lot of construction knowledge and had a deeper understanding of architecture. Each of these pieces together construction the 'PLAY' during my early journey of design. The 'PLAY' portfolio is also a periodic summary, urge myself to keep 'playful' during the rest of life.

URBAN ARK A Imagination Based On Pandemic Period Time: November - December 2020 Category:Individual Work Site: HongKong Island, HongKong, China

This project tried to find a new model of the future urban cities. The year 2020 brought a host of new challenges and highlighted the "old" ones that need to be urgently addressed. The lockdown of our cities has triggered a dramatic breakdown of our social order, and large parts of cities were dormant or redundant. While this presented obvious social and environmental challenges, it also presented an opportunity to fundamentally rethink the way cities operate.

ORINGIN In the future,the explosive growth of the population will bring new challenges to human beings:on the one hand,highdensity,high volume ratio cities are difficult to accoummodate urban life;on the other hand, the global outbreak of virus is also difficult to contain. In addition,there are many facing water and food shortages. In view of the above problems,We hope to find a kind of urban strategy to deal with urabn problems of different periods.Through a series of analysis and research, I sorted out the needs of the society in different periods, proposed the ARK mode, and designed the physical space of the mode through architectural design.Through such thinking, I hope to make some imagination for the future urban operation mode.

Under the premise of improving rural infrastructure, change the functional layout of traditional buildings with residence as the main part, and transform the space of collapsed dwellings into public open space to carry the necessary functional space of modern people's life;

Phase 2: Linking: Art Intervention All kinds of retail, cultural and creative, office, homestay, ecological agriculture and other forms of business are distributed horizontally in the village space, and the village is regarded as a hotel, so as to motivate the indigenous people to participate in the operation of the "hotel". At the same time, through the architectural competition, the attraction of Lingnan Architecture Exhibition and other hot spots, inviting the local living architectural culture spokesmen to participate in the lab and exhibition, continuously provide the source of vitality for the village;

Phase 3:Booming: Education Industry 05 River system

Through the architecture and other related industries getting involved, which can attract specific occupational groups to gather and stay. The cooperation and mutual assistance between the architects and the local villagers form a virtuous cycle of creation-craft-education-R & D, forming a stable industrial economic community of the new rural community without other intervene.

RE-IMAGINING LIFE Inheritance And Deductive Transformation Of Li Yang Old Street Time: September - October 2014 Category:Collaborative Project Site: Li Yang, Huangshan, China My contribution:Concept, Mapping,Computer model,Diagrams

With the changes of the times,the ancient town Liyang lost its former prosperity.Streets and house in the town were seriusly damaged.Among them,the famous JIA residence and Shi Residence were include in municipal-level preservation of cultural relics,and other 8 buildings were basically preserved. The government hoped to repair and reuse the old buildings by renovation.we hope to revitalize the area through this project. This project took the old streets in Liyang as an important carrier to inherit Huizhou culture,and we make the design for the purpose of protection and innovation.We intergrated the tranditional architectural elements to create an impression of long history to evoke people's memory of the ancient streets in Liyang.

Commercial Preserved Ancient House Renovated Ancient House

The ancient town of Liyang was built during the Jian'an period of the Eastern Han Dynasty and was one of the birthplaces of the Huizhou merchants. The 1000 metre-long Liyang Street is quite charming. There were still nearly 100 old houses in the town, but with the changes of the times, the town has lost its former prosperity, the streets and alleys were in disrepair and the houses were seriously damaged. After a site survey, there were two well-preserved historical buildings and another eight old buildings that need to be repaired and reused.

After on-the-spot investigation and research. We have repaired the buildings that can be reserved, and we translated the specific forms of ancient buildings, using modern materials and techniques.

DESIGN CONCEPT Taking the architecture as "Graph" Taking the street space as "Background"

Transformation in urban texture Through the analysis of the original urban texture, We extracted the random spread characteristics of the original urban texture, Then, combined with our improved architectural form, we finally formed our new general layout. The relationship between buildings and streets was random, flexible and complementary.

To maintain the spatial scale of the old street, we have kept the width of the street between 6 - 9 metres. The section facing the historic houses to be preserved was widened to 11 metres to allow better views of the old mansions. The buildings on both sides of the street were mostly two-storey, with sloping roofs and gable heights of between 7.5 to11 m. The D/H were controlled at 0.7 to 1.2. This space has a comfortable scale, i.e. it were not too narrow in transition, but also catalyze a bustling and lively atmosphere.

Utility Model Patent-HOME BOX

Multi-Functional Furniture Partition System For Living Space Time: June - October 2017 Category:Individual Work Site: Yutian City Village, Shenzhen,China Award: Certificate of patent for utility model Patent No: ZL201920889235.9

Under the current high-density city development, the reuse of the stock property has become a new hot spot in urban construction and reconstruction. However, such kind of reuse normally tend to scrape the interior space as much as possible to maximize economic benefits, which would greatly sacrifice the living quality. At the same time, the traditional construction method also causes the waste of building materials and the interference brought by the construction. How to create a relatively ideal lifestyle for urban youth? How to maximize the use efficiency in the limited living space? How to reduce construction cost and construction disturbance? My design HOME BOX Multifunctional Furniture Partition System rises in response to such kind of condition.

SITUATION-Living space of the village in the city

DESIGN CONCEPTION

Through field inspections and surveys of people living in urban villages, we found that the living space in urban villages was generally crowded. Because of the lack of storage and other spaces, the room will be occupied by daily necessities after residents move in.In the research, young people especially hope to have a fully equipped living space. According to the current situation and the needs of residents, I hope to find a solution to improve the quality of living.

The traditional construction method also causes the waste of building materials and the interference brought by the construction,I hope to learn the construction methods of Lego’s,modularize furniture and form modules that can be standardized, which can facilitate transportation and reduce material waste. DESIGN STRATEGY

Wardrobe Tall wardrobe reaching up to the beam. Storage on top of the wardrobe.

In view of the existing architectural structure of the space, spaces are reasonably separated to form an independent private space, while enabling residents to have a relatively independent living function space. On the one hand, this design can well solve the problem of improper division of interior space in the current building and solve the space utilization problem of intensive residential buildings; on the other hand, it can also control the cost of industrial production, shorten the construction period, and thus reduce the construction interference.

Challenge Excellence Group · Central Star Experience Center is located at Pinghu Street, Longgang District, Shenzhen, which is in a period of rapid development. The completion of the project will make a breakthrough at the previous urban functional layout of Pinghu area and form a more balanced urban district structure. How to ref lect the value of the project as the experience center of the project image display, and how to make the project a unique business card in the environment under construction are what we focus on for the design.

Solution We start with both the layout of the site and the building skin. The overall layout of the experience center is a landscape style. The model room is separated from the main building of the experience center, among which rockeries, water and gardens are interspersed. A corridor connects the two to create a feeling completely different from the surrounding environment. And we propose the concept of building skin – “time matrix”, trying to create a living “light and shadow capturing box” in this urban oasis. The elegant and noble temperament will bring new life to the city for the change and development of the new era.
