FOR THE FIRST TIME, THE GRAND RAPIDS BUSINESS JOURNAL partnered with the West Michigan Advertising Federation to sponsor its annual ADDY Awards! The awards ceremony was February 16, 2017, and was a great opportunity for both seasoned and young professionals to display their creativity in the advertising, marketing and public relations industries.

About the American Advertising Awards (The ADDYs)

The ADDY Awards, the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition, recognizes creative excellence and the very best advertising as part of a three-tiered competition. After competing for recognition as the best in the West Michigan markets, local winners compete within one of 14 district competitions. District-winning entries are forwarded to the national ADDY Awards Competition for the final evaluation of creative excellence. National Gold winners are announced the first week of June.

CELEBRATING ITS 90TH YEAR, The American Advertising Federation, West Michigan chapter is a nonprofit advertising industry association that serves more than 600 people, companies and organizations throughout the region to promote professional excellence through education, advocacy, networking and community affairs. AAF West Michigan members work in many different fields, including advertising, marketing, communications, public relations, printing, video production and graphic arts. THE AMERICAN ADVERTISING FEDERATION (AAF), headquartered in Washington, D.C., acts as the “unifying voice for advertising.” The AAF is the oldest national advertising trade association, representing 50,000 professionals in the advertising industry. “Fun things come in small packages, and this was a perfect example. The illustration styles were on point, and the overall tone of this work was just funny. I loved that you had two versions, and the work was just really rad.”

“The copywriting on the posters for this campaign was whip smart and made me smile. You took a slick and stylish product and made it even more stylish with headlines that didn’t try too hard.
