DR.STEPHANIEJOHNSON

GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION DEPUTY

SUPERINTENDENTOFSCHOOLIMPROVEMENT

Dr. Stephanie S. Johnson is Georgia's Chief Turnaround Officer and Deputy Superintendent of the Georgia Department of Education, where she leads School and District Effectiveness, Professional Development, and Alternative Education programs.

She graduated from Washington County High School and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama majoring in Psychology and minoring in English. She earned Master of Education degrees in English and Secondary Education from the University of West Alabama. She earned Educational Specialists' degrees in School Counseling and Educational Leadership from the University of South Alabama. She completed her Doctor of Education Degree in Educational Leadership and Management from Capella University.

Dr. Johnson and her husband Gary Johnson are proud parents of three children: Taylor, Jacob, and Stephen. Taylor is a University of Alabama Honor Graduate and serves as Atlanta Public School's District Teacher of the Year. During Dr. Johnson's free time, she enjoys volunteering with her church, community service, and spending time with family and friends.

Senator John F. Kennedy was first elected to the state Senate in 2014 to represent Crawford, Monroe, Peach and Upson counties as well as portions of Bibb and Houston counties. After serving as Governor Deal's Floor Leader in the Senate during his freshman term, his Republican col-leagues elected Senator Kennedy to serve as Caucus Chair-man for the Senate Majority in 2017, and he served that position until he received the nomination to serve as President Pro Tempore of the Senate in November of 2022.

Senator Kennedy serves as Vice-Chairman of the Banking and Financial Services Committee. He serves on several key committees.

Senator Kennedy earned a degree in Economics from Mercer University in 1987. He completed his law degree at Mercer University School of Law in 1990.

Senator Kennedy is a Partner at the Macon-based law firm of James-Bates-Brannan-Groover, LLP, and practices in the area of civil litigation, trial work, business advice and fiduciary law.

Senator Kennedy is a Class of 2000 Graduate of Leadership Macon and a 2007 Graduate of Leadership Georgia.

Senator Kennedy and his wife of 30 years, Susan, have two children, Katherine and Will. The Kennedy's are active members of Ingleside Baptist Church.
