WIN Home Inspection

John Caldwell, Owner of WIN Home Inspection in Lindale, stands in front of his car that sports his business' logo.

John Caldwell, Owner of WIN Home Inspection in Lindale, started his career in catastrophe insurance claims. While working in catastrophe claims, Mr. Caldwell spent a majority of his time away from his home and family in Lindale. After many years of traveling around the country, Mr. Caldwell decided that it was time to spend more time in his hometown and turn his dream of owning his own business into a reality. In 2016, Mr. Caldwell decided to open his own home inspection business in Lindale, Georgia.

“I wanted to do something that kept me close to home, but at the same time transfer the knowledge I had learned in insurance.” Said Mr. Caldwell, “I always had this dream of owning my own business. I wanted to spend more time at home and less on the road and I knew this was a perfect fit.” Mr. Caldwell quickly began researching how best to start his own home inspection business when he founded WIN Home Inspection. WIN Home Inspection is a business franchise located in Franklin, TN, and Mr. Caldwell thought it was a perfect fit to bring to Rome. “I wanted something to set me apart from other Home Inspection agencies,” said Mr. Caldwell “I felt like having the support of a large company, but the ability to run my own business gave me a competitive edge.” Like many businesses, Mr. Caldwell's is in many ways dependent on others in Rome and Floyd County. "The more people move to Rome and buy houses here the more the overall economy improves, as well as my business." Mr. Caldwell’s WIN Home Inspection offers services for residential and commercial locations around Rome and Floyd County.

Rudy Childs, Owner of Traditions of Rome, Inc., Dee Dee Putman and Zac Coble stand in front of the Columns of Rome home.

Rudy Childs took a unique dream and turned it into a successful business. Mr. Childs created a one stop shop for all your favorite sports teams, house décor and Christmas decorations. When he opened Traditions of Rome, Inc. in 1993 the business was located on Broad Street, and was eventually moved to Second Avenue where it is still located today. Mr. Childs wanted to make it the perfect gift shop in Rome and Floyd County. The store now offers merchandise from 38 College teams, 15 pro teams, and is an authorized Tervis , Willow Tree, Jim Shore dealer. “I wanted people to be able to come in anytime of the year and pick up a gift,” said Mr. Childs. “No matter what type of gift, I wanted to have the perfect one ready for our customers.” Mr. Childs started to do something behind the scenes that most might not know, decorate houses. Mr. Childs and his team at Traditions of Rome began to decorate houses for the holiday season. Decorating indoors and outdoors with a unique holiday display. “I started with Lenora Santoro’s house in 1993, and it grew from there,” said Mr. Childs. The Traditions of Rome team is now responsible for decorating 15 houses around Floyd County, including the Columns of Rome

home in Downtown Rome. Mr. Childs uses his years of interior design experience and creates a winter wonderland in each house he touches. “Decorating houses is such a large part of our business, but not everyone knows who is behind the décor,” said Mr. Childs. The entire Traditions of Rome team works hard to not only turn their store into a winter wonderland, but also the entire town.

Mr. Perry and his team at North Georgia Equipment work hard to continue to grow the business. North Georgia Equipment sells, installs and maintains heating and cooling systems for residential and commercial properties. “We work hard to provide the best service and the best customer experience in the Northwest Georgia area,” said Mr. Perry. “We want to make a difference in the community whether it be in someone’s home or work.” North Georgia Equipment currently provides services for Berry College, International Paper, Gerdau Ameristeel and numerous other residential, commercial and industrial locations,". The North Georgia Equipment team is always looking for a challenge and with the latest in technological advancements in heating and cooling they are getting to test their skills and learn even more. “There have been many people that now want systems with digital controls," said Mr. Perry. “We install systems now where you can check the air flow in any room in a business or control your air conditioner at home from your cell phone. We see these trends and we adapt. We want to make our customers happy”.

With the constant evolution of technology Mr. Perry keeps all of his staff trained on the latest equipment, but to the North Georgia Equipment team it’s not just about knowing what you are doing, it’s also about how you treat your customer. “We want our customers to know we are there to help them,” said Mr. Perry. “We have someone on call 24/7, and if they need us in the middle of the night we will be there."
