By: Timber Gray Wolf This would be the third year visiting Buccaneer Bash in Augusta, Michigan. This year was much different compared to last year. Last year the weather was to freezing, as in snow and sleet, and mixed in rain. While this year was in the mid-60’s, but misquotes were thick as could be. Even with the warm weather there were a number of vendors missing this year. Outside of the missing vendors and warm weather, there were still plenty of great people to sit

down and chat with. The place to be was at the SteamJack and RootJack tent and patio. They had a few tables and chairs set up so people could sit and socialize. With the talk around camp news of this year’s coming events were a hot topic. As more information comes from the sores, I shall have it here ready for all of you to read.

nce a boat is named and christened, the name should never be changed because it’s considered extremely bad luck. Many believe (still to this very day!) that changing a boat’s name will bring misfortune on the ship. A boat can be renamed only if certain protocols are fallowed: a bout must be de-named first by writing the boat’s current name on a piece of paper, fold the paper and placing it in the wooden box, which is then burned. The ashes are then scooped up and thrown into the sea!

Ingretients • • • •

About the Cove Established in 1983 in Traverse City, Michigan, the Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf mission has always been to provide a wholesome, quality, family oriented entertainment option that promises a fun and unique experience for players aged 3 years to 93 years!

This great trip to the Pirate’s Cove started the morning of the 19th of May. Star~Dust, Elise W’nstrom, and myself left from Sturgis, Michigan upon the Sand Shark, on a 4 hour journey to Beulah, Michigan; there we would be met by Dueien D’mont and Alais W’nstrom at Turtle Lake Camp Ground. With a cold wind from the north, we set up quickly and a fire built. After the fire was built and dinner was served, settled into our bellies. We explored the grounds. Soon it was time to partake in the Rum and Vodka, and some mixers. The night came to a close as the temp dropped once more. The forecast called for the night temp being in the high-4os and low50s, so we packed a heater to keep the wall-tent warm. What we were not expecting when nature called early in the morning for most of us, that temp was down to 34°f. So it was just warm enough in the tent so no one would get sick.

With the rising sun, meant to get the fire going for break breakfast. I had whipped a meal of fried diced up red skin potatoes, sausage, and country gravy (just enough to hold everything together). With warm food in our stomachs we climbed aboard the Sand Shark and set our heading to Traverse City, there we would find the cove. Once arriving at the Pirate Cove, I wondered off to find the main entice and to ask a few questions about our weapons. The Manger loved our garb and the fact that we were so dressed up just to play golf; He gave us a discount out our game. We planned on playing the 32 holes (both Course), so it would fill up much of our day. Started with their Original Course, that had its range of style of holes for beginners. To have more fun as many of us are not the best at any form of golf, was not to keep score.

A way to take one’s time through the course, besides stopping and posing for photos is, reading the little signs at the start of each hole, which have a little historical information about different Pirates. One of spots we decided to take a group photo was on a bridge in front of a water fall. It seems simple enough, unless you were me, the one running and climbing up from a lower level, jumping over bushes, while in full garb. After completing the first course, we wondered back to the Sand Shark to shed a few layers and had a quick snack to keep us going. The second course was named Black Beard’s Challenge. This course had an extra level of difficulty, but just and much fun. The little signs that would start each of the holes on this course were all Black Beard related. Both courses were so much fun and we could tell that they put a lot of time and

though into designing the courses and the scenery around the park. From traveling or playing over water falls, to getting our balls over gaps if, it not hit hard enough it would land in the stream and be carried away. Then there were even a cave on each course to play through. There were plenty of little detail from parts of ships scattered about to skulls and canons. Another thing that made our day was that other guest thought that we worked there. Many asked to take photos of us or with us. What did we do? Of course we took photos with them. It made their day just as much as it did ours.

We left happy and sent back out to the camp ground. There we found our tent had finally called it quits. The pore thing had been holding for a while with a broken frame. So we called it a day by doing an early teardown, and setting sail south to Holland, Michigan, so we could meet up with some of the crew that was unable to partake in the long trip.

With our backs to the wall The darkness will fall We never quite thought We could lose it all Ready aim fire Ready aim fire An empire is falling In just one day You close your eyes And the glory fades Ready aim fire Ready aim fire away Ready aim fire Ready aim fire away Off in the distance There is resistance Bubbling up and festering Hey mr motion Make me a potion Shake it all up With your mistery How come I’ve never seen Your face around here I know every single face Around here A man on a mission Changing the vision I was never welcome here We don’t have the choice to stay We’d rather die than Do it your way With our backs to the wall The darkness will fall We never quite thought We could lose it all
