MARKING A MILESTONE

THIS YEAR’S 40TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF THE NARI HOME IMPROVEMENT SHOW WELCOMES NEW FEATURES AND FAN FAVORITES. BY KRISTEN HAMPSHIRE

DESIGN INSPIRATION, professional expertise and the latest home improvement tips and trends are all under one roof at the NARI Home Improvement Show, taking place Jan. 21 to 23 at the Huntington Convention Center Downtown Cleveland. Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the event showcases new products and remodeling techniques, interactive seminars, a Maker’s Market and opportunities to meet with the region’s top remodeling contractors.

“The 2022 show is gearing up to be a great event. Exhibitors are excited to be back at an in-person event,” says Chris Kamis, CR, chairman of the board for NARI. “And since the majority of the contractors at the show are NARI members, you have peace of mind and confidence because NARI contractors and members are top-notch with great credentials, so you know you are dealing with a professional.”

Attend to experience the show’s traditions — including the Chef’s Table cooking demonstrations featuring local chefs. New this year, NARI is inviting culinary students to the stage in keeping with a concerted effort to encourage trades students to experience the indemand home remodeling industry. Students are also involved in building displays and participating in a playhouse building competition. The playhouses will be auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting Sleep in Heavenly Peace, which provides beds for children in need.

The show also will include a He Shed/ She Shed feature. “We found that especially during the pandemic, people have invested a lot of money into their homes and particularly backyards and projects where they might not otherwise spend,” Kamis says.

The Maker’s Market returns with local artisans offering decor and more that suits every budget. And, as always, the show also will include a full menu of seminars centered on techniques and trends, along with product demonstrations.

“You’ll find an array of remodeling businesses, and it’s a big advantage to come out and meet professionals in a comfortable setting,” says Ken Perrin, owner of Artistic Renovations of Ohio LLC, North Royalton. “You can meet with contractors, build a comfort level and find the right fit for you.”

HERE ARE SOME OTHER WAYS TO MAXIMIZE THE SHOW EXPERIENCE.

Come prepared. Check out the show’s online guide to find out which remodeling professionals will be exhibiting. “That way, you can map out your time,” Kamis says, adding that peak times tend to be Saturday morning through early afternoon,

Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Sunday morning. Slower times can afford more opportunity to connect with contractors and share ideas.

Go VIP. A new VIP package includes no waiting in lines, dedicated parking and access to a meeting space with refreshments where you can meet with professionals. “You can schedule VIP time with any contractor and sit at the table, or come to rest on the luxury couches,” Kamis says.

Stay Downtown. Consider making the NARI Home Improvement Show a

Downtown staycation at the Hilton — or plan an evening out after the event and explore the many walkable restaurants. Kamis emphasizes, “There’s a lot to do and ample parking.”
