CROSSLEY Residents’ Social Group held its second annual fun residents Gary Costello and Farrell Grant in a raffle. day at St Saviour’s Church in Chadderton. The social group received £400 funding from the Respect our Community Awards (ROCA) towards A whole host of family activities on the day included arts the event. and crafts, face and henna painting, fairground stalls and Bollywood dancing. Other attractions on the day included visits from Greater Manchester Police and a fire engine from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and even Chaddy the owl from Oldham Athletic paid a visit. A Kindle Fire HD, donated by Inspiral and a GoClever Netbook donated by Wates Living Space were won by local

PFI Refurb comes to an end After 14 months of refurbishment to residents’ homes, the team has made its final handovers, seeing a total of 420 homes in Crossley and Primrose Bank receiving full home improvement upgrades. This included 104 private homeowners who opted to have upgrade works and 303 tenanted properties. We would like to thank everyone for their patience and cooperation during the last few months.

NEWS IN BRIEF RESIDENTS PASS FOOD SAFETY IN CATERING COURSE A big ‘well done’ to the Crossley and Primrose Bank ladies who passed their Food Safety In Catering course. They are now looking forward to putting what they learned into practice when the new community centres open.

CROSSLEY RESIDENTS’ SOCIAL GROUP The social group will be electing a committee at the next forum meeting on 18th July at 6pm, so why not come and join them?

There will be fun activities including board games, table tennis, Wii games, sports and a tuck shop. This is for children up to the age of 13 years. Children under the age of 6 must be accompanied by an adult.

DEW WAY RESIDENTS’ MEETING Monthly meetings organised by Great Places are due to take place, starting Monday 22nd July at 11am at the OBA Millennium Centre, Featherstall Road North.

What’s happening in your area CROSSLEY Wates Living Space • Dusty landings in Stockfield Mount - cleaned by Wates. • Refurbishment work is almost complete. • CCTV will be installed to monitor the new build. Great Places • Issue raised about bins being stolen. This will not happen if they are left in bin stores. • New tenants have started moving into the flats in the tower blocks. • Development of new community centre is progressing. • Ryan Smith is investigating the alleygating that is still required in some parts of the estate.

• Footpath around Crossley football pitch will be repaired as part of the football pitch refurbishment. PRIMROSE BANK Wates Living Space • Refurbishment work progressing well. • Parking has been a problem on Primrose Bank. Wates are working to resolve this. Great Places • Attendance could be improved at neighbourhood surgeries, from July they will be held every fortnight. Police Update • Residents reported problems with quad bikes. Police need to find out who is causing the issue.

Dew Way now fully occupied The refurbishment and development of hundreds of homes in Oldham is continuing to progress, with one site now fully occupied. Dew Way (pictured below), which is in the Westwood area of the town, consists of 36 rented homes with 3 and 4-bedroom houses and also 2 bedroom apartments. All properties benefit from solar energy and mechanical ventilation systems to ensure they are as environmentally friendly as possible.

• Grass overgrown on Walsh Street and side of 361 Denton Lane - to be cut. • Litter around the shop area of Kent Avenue - caretakers have carried out a litter pick. • A number of bins have been left outside properties and not left in the bin stores - Great Places staff will be taking note and approaching individual residents.

Primrose Bank

• Burned-out bin and rubbish in the alley at the bottom of Florida Street. Environmental Services have been contacted. • Fly tipping inside fencing on Ashton Road – Wates have been informed.


Design a community garden competition We want you to design a fantastic new community garden on Dew Way. The design will need to include space for a small grassed area, benches, shrubs and raised beds for growing vegetables.
